My family attended mass at the basilica and from the outside it does not look that large or spectacular, but once inside it is gorgeous. After mass, we walked around the basilica reviewing all the saint paintings in each alcove, trying to find our favorite saints. The architecture is outstanding. St Patrick's has a beautiful and unusual interior. You can actually smell how old it is. The high alter is entirely monochromatic in carved wood; oak perhaps and has a lovely old hanging lamp overhead. Saints cover the side windows. It's worthwhile to attend Mass here if you are Catholic (or even if you aren't) to experience the Basilica fully.... more

You can't miss this basilica, it may not look fancy, but it was beautiful on the inside. You would think the inside of the basilica would be dreary like most, but it was actually bright.
