We took the Funicular on a rainy, cold day and were glad we did! It quickly whisked us to the top (less than a minute or two) and saved lots of walking in the rain. It is pretty inexpensive. We didn't get any good photos from the funicular but I bet on nicer days you could. Give it a try.... more
It's an elevator. Well worth the $1.75 I'd take it several times a day - the terrain is killer on the knees. View is better from the citadel or plains of Abraham. more
The Funicular is like a glassed-in elevator car. Sized to carry about 8 people up and down the cliff between the upper and lower parts of Old Quebec. The upper station is right in front of the Chateau Frontenac. The lower stop is surrounded by shops, boutiques, restaurants and various historic sites. A one-way trip takes maybe 2 minutes, tops.... more
We are coming from chicago and we had an outstanding experience by taking the funicular. The overview is spectacular and we enjoyed our ride. The staff was very kind and help up to find other interesting sites to visit at the lower town. Definitely a must a see. more
The Funicular is great either for a ride up or down the sides of the city for cheap. It is better to take it up the sides because walking down is easy. The Funicular takes you from the Upper City where the Chateau Frontenac, Basilica, Anglican Cathedral and Seminary are down to the historic Petit Champlain Quarter, which is near... more
