This was my second time in Edinburgh, i had been told about the underground lanes and initially thought that Mary Kings Close was one of those (my fault) but it is not. The close is actually a series of streets that were once open to the air but were subsequently built upon thus they are now underground. Being from London,... more

We spent the other day visiting Edinburgh as my partner had never been to the capital before and decided to visit Mary King's Close. Not worth the money very expensive for what it was.10 minutes off interest crammed into an hour!!! Interesting to go underground and see the original closes we thought but the lighting was very poor and not... more

After a bitterly disappointing visit to the vaults I held my breath as I walked down stairs into Mary Kings Close. Our guide Agnes, I think, was funny and charming. To be honest I soon forgot i was being taken on a journey into Edinburgh's history by a costumed guide and could be forgiven for thinking she was the real... more

Myself and my girlfriend had a great time at Mary Kings. Our excellent costumed guide really added to the occasion. I have to say we came away having had a good time and also having learnt a bit about what it must have been like for previous generations living in Edinburgh. I wouldnt say it is spooky as such more... more

After going on a City of the Dead tour (or two) the guide recommended Mary Kings Close.....and I wasn't disappointed. I was a little suprised at the price, as I felt £10 was a little on the expencive side for an hours tour....but I soon forgot about the cost as I went below the Royal Mile. Our costumed guide added... more

I just spent a few days visiting Edinburgh for the first time, and this was the ONLY attraction that I was genuinely disappointed with. It’s difficult to know where to begin. Firstly, it was £10 per person just to go in which seemed a little high (at least higher than nearly all other attractions) which is ok as long as... more

Our tour guide Agnes was really good in keeping the tour entertaining and interesting. The only let down of the tour was when we sat down and had to listen to this recorded story under dimmed lights. I wasn't very impressed by this and felt this bit could have been left out. Apart from that a very enjoyable experience and... more

I highly recommend The Real Mary Kings close for anyone visiting Edinburgh. Myself and my boyfriend were only in the city for the afternoon so we had to limit ourselves to just one tourist attraction and we were so glad we picked this! We paid a tenner each and the tour lasted an hour - the tour guide was great,... more
