Heard of this on Trip Advisor and was looking forward to seeing it. I had no idea what it was, but it sounded cool! At first, they take you upstairs to a small room and show you a large lens that looks out of the the building...interesting, but I was concerned that that might be all..was I wrong! Each floor... more

Great family fun. Views from the top were great and we all loved spying on people below through the cameras - beware you don't pick your nose close to this place if you don't want to be seen. We also liked the heat imaging thing and the flash thingy that took a picture of your silhouette - too many cool... more

My 8 year old daughter and I went to the Camera Obscura on a rainy day while my husband went on the Scotch Whiskey Tour across the street. They are both located near the Edinburgh Castle. There are 4 levels including the ground floor gift shop. Climb further and you'll reach the rooftop with a spectacular view of the city.... more

Had a visit to Edinburgh in the month of March. It was abnormally sunny all week and just beautiful weather. Made sightseeing around this ancient city wonderful. Although one day it did rain, so we decided to go to the camera obscura. It was great fun for us 3 adults, and I'm sure the kids would have loved it too.... more

My friend and I were in Edinburgh for the Easter Weekend. We visited Camera Obscura as recommended using our 3 day Edinburgh pass, it was free to get in with that, and it was great fun. There are amazing holograms, fun tricks and magic to do, very interactive. Excellent for the kiddies but may be a little frightening for very... more

My husband wanted to visit the Camera Obscura, I wanted to shop. He didn't want to go without me, so I reluctantly went. It was fun! The views are awesome, the exhibits interesting - I also enjoyed the pictures of old Edinburgh. I wish I'd had a little time to shop too, but the Camera Obscura was definitely worth the... more

Undoubtedly the best views available from the city centre, especially through the free-to-use high power binoculars. The galleries of illusions & visual oddities added intrigue to a thouroughly worthwhile couple of hours. more

I am a frequent traveler to Edinburgh as I have family living nearby. Last spring I took my two young children (ages 7 and 4) with me, and we had a ball. My 7-year-old's favorite place we visited in Edinburgh was without a doubt the Camera Obscura. Located on the Royal Mile, the Camera Obscura is near Edinburgh Castle and... more
