Paris, one automatically thinks of the Eiffel Tower...one should think twice! Whilst I visited the Eiffel Tower, had my picture taken with it (as is obligatory I'm sure all would agree). It was in my opinion rather unremarkable other than its fame. For me, the absolute sole attraction of Paris was Notre Dame and I hadn't even realised it. I... more

If you're traveling to Paris, you can't miss Notre Dame. Go in the church and make your way around the interior, pausing to drink in the beauty of the three magnificent rose windows. The "Treasures" room, for which there is an entry fee, is missable. If you're up to a climb, definitely join the queue to go up the tower.... more

I've been to the Cathedral of Notre Dame at least 4 or 5 times. I never tire of seeing it. To me, it is the quintessence of a gothic cathedral with its breathtaking stain glass windows, graceful flying buttresses and ugly gargoyles. It also has a great location right on the river Seine. The inside is equally fascinating with its... more

This is the church you must see if you only see one in Paris. If at all possible for you physically definitely make the climb up the tower for both the view of the city, the view of the top of Notre Dame itself, and the fabulous gargoyles which you cam appreciate so much more up close than from the... more

The views from the top are great! You can see the gargoyles and all! We only queued for less than 20 minutes to climb the towers and that was at around 2pm. We had a quick look around the church which was impressive! more

After waiting in line for ages, the cathedral is worth it. The interior is amazing and the views from the top stunning. more

I am not a relgious person at all, but you have to admire the skills of people back in the 12th Century in terms of grand design and use of stained glass. The building itself is free to enter and the queues are not too bad, as long as the Pope doesn't turn up. He did do so the next... more

We went very early--to 8 a.m. mass, to start. The church doors open at 7:45. For any Catholic visitors, this mass was a good reminder of the universal nature of the Church, as it was in French (of course). The visitors were already starting to pour in by the time mass ended, at 8:30. We were able to start our... more

We went at about 11.00am and the place was absolutely packed. The square out the front was so crowded and there were a lot of gypsies around, begging for money. Once inside, whilst the atmosphere was very reverent, the amount of people made it difficult to move around and fully enjoy just "being there". Obviously by being a tourist myself,... more

I went to Notre Dame a couple Saturdays ago. We got there in the morning and there was some type of holy service going on, so we came back in the afternoon. It wasn't too crowded, which was good. The outside design is beautiful and you have to take pictures of it. I expected better in the inside though. It... more
