Biggest tip is for ladies - make sure you have something to cover their heads, ankles and wrists - otherwise you'll be turned away (my shirt was long sleeved by didn't quite reach my hands and I was refused entry. A just amazing building. Very easy to visit on your own - no need to take a tourist trip! There is plenty of parking on site. AT the tourist entrance there is a shop selling a guide to the Mosque - 1 rial. They also give you an excellent free map of Oman which is useful if travelling by car.... more

This beautiful building is open to the public (non Muslim) between 8 - 11 every morning except Thursday and Friday. It is simply stunning in its design and very tasteful.
