Well manicured - and an incredible diversity of cacti and succulents. Easy to walk. It is truly a garden, as opposed to Boyce Thompson Arboretum. They have similarities, yet are also very different. The Desert Botanical Garden is very well laid out and between the brochures and labels, you will learn a lot about the different species of cacti and succulents from around the world. Loved the botanical gardens. Like everyone said, go early, it does get hot very early. We got there before 9am and had to leave by 11:30 because it was so warm. Make sure to check out the butterfly exhibit. I took lots of beautiful pictures of them. more

We went in early April, 2007. The temperature was in the mid 90's. The garden has an amazing assortment of plants and great views of the Phoenix area. Take your walking shoes and lots of water.
