I really enjoyed my visit to the Desert Botanical Garden. It was a real serene place. It was very clean and there was is a walking path. The path is not too long, but of course make sure you bring water. If you are looking for adventure by walking thru by the desert by yourself this won’t your type of... more

Well manicured - and an incredible diversity of cacti and succulents. Easy to walk. It is truly a garden, as opposed to Boyce Thompson Arboretum. They have similarities, yet are also very different. Boyce is further out, much larger, involves more walking, and is more like a nature trail. Both were very enjoyable. more

The Desert Botanical Garden is very well laid out and between the brochures and labels, you will learn a lot about the different species of cacti and succulents from around the world. I got some great photos out of the visit. I think my favorite species was the Teddy Bear, which looks very cuddly but you definitely do not want... more

I thought this was a garden rather repetitive, obviously, in its display of desert plants and life. That's all it was. The garden itself is rather big but unless you love looking at cacti and other desert-living plants again and again, there's really not that much to see. Another downside is I was asked to pay $3 extra for the... more

We visited in early September and arrived at around 8am - it was already quite hot so we would definitely advise taking advantage of the early opening hours if you’re visiting in the summer. Although you can also visit at night which could be quite interesting and, I assume, slightly cooler. We were only able to stay for about 1.5... more

Loved the botanical gardens. Like everyone said, go early, it does get hot very early. We got there before 9am and had to leave by 11:30 because it was so warm. Make sure to check out the butterfly exhibit. I took lots of beautiful pictures of them. more

We went in early April, 2007. The temperature was in the mid 90's. The garden has an amazing assortment of plants and great views of the Phoenix area. Take your walking shoes and lots of water. You get very hot in the sun. Great if you need to get your kids to literally "run off" some energy. Well laid-out and... more
