I live about 25 minutes from the Phoenix Zoo and I love going to the Zoo at least once every 2 months. I have seasons passes and I take the whole family to get out to walk the whole zoo and get our exercise. The kids love the monkey area and watching the Orangutan family--The scenery is beautiful especially the... more

This is a very cool zoo. I could've spent the entire day watching the orangutan family. There's a toddler who is constantly playing with its mom. The rainforest area was incredible. Spend half a day here and half a day at the Desert Botanical Garden nearby. more

I'm probably a bit more critical than the average visitor. I've been involved in the zoological community for many years and a past member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. I've had an opportunity to visit zoos all across the US. This was my first visit to the Phoenix Zoo. February probably isn't the best time of the year... more

Took the grandkids( ages 10,12,13) for a day at the zoo. Wear comfortable shoes!! We took the little train for a tour but it went much too fast to see anything easily(hint.... sit in front by the driver) This is not a big or fancy zoo but it had some good qualities. One is the stingray pool. You can pet... more

My husband, son (age 8) and I just came back from a week in Phoenix. The zoo (wear your walking shoes) was a great place to visit. The animals were easy to spot and my son was soooo excited to have the map and "lead the way." We tested EACH water fountain there and the water was ALWAYS cold and... more

Moving around a lot, we've visited zoos across the country. Phoenix zoo is not one of my favorites. Although they seemed to be working on it, the zoo could use a facelift. The exhibits were tired, shabby, and too far apart from one another. There wasn't enough shade provided. There was little to draw in small children and oftentimes the... more

I've been to a numer of city zoos and this one rates among the best. It's set up so that you feel as though you're walking through the animals' habitat. Great educational offerings, too. Excellent zoo experience. One big tip: go when it opens at 7am when it's cool and uncrowded. By the time we left at 10, it was... more

Unlike many City zoos, this zoo is located away from skyscrapers and cars. Though this zoo is smaller than the Denver Zoo, it is very open and doesn't give a feeling of encagement. The entrance was beautiful. The weather can get very hot, I would recommend bringing your own water. The fountain water in the zoo tastes disgusting. more

This zoo was pretty fun. I enjoyed it a lot. I absolutely love going to Zoos. As far as zoos go it was pretty average, but not terrible. We got in for 50% off because my parents are members of the local zoo in Battle Creek, MI. It was fairly cheap to go. We went with a group of 4.... more
