The location and view from the park are spectacular - it is easily the highest point near the coast, and on a clear day, you can see almost forever. Rising 900 ft+, the peak is a defining feature of La Jolla. The drive to the top is steep and twisting with glimpses of the sea in between verdant gardens and homes. If you're in La Jolla, the short drive to Mount Soledad is well worth it. Surrounding the cross are many plaques with names, pictures, and the military activities of men and women who have given their lives for their country. You are compelled to keep reading on and on. Also of course, the view is spectacular, and so comes recommended. more
