At this point of my trip, I have visited with great pleasure and enjoyment Graceland, the Stax Museum, Sun Studios, and unfortunately this museum. I was turned off from the moment I walked in the door as we went on Monday from 3-5, which they boast "free admission." Sadly, we were unaware that this only pertained to in-state residents, so... more

Be prepared for huge amount of information! It may be tiring that there is no chair for relaxing in between. more

The information at the museum was incredible and really informative. I was a kid living in NY and after going through the exhibit, realized that I should have know a lot more about all this history than I did. I think every young person should make a point to go through the museum, as it really changes your perspective on... more

I'm of an age to be part of the civil rights movement graduating from high school in '63. And it broke my heart to hear Dr. King had been murdered, what a loss. I guess we are like other animals in being curious where it happened. This tribute will be a lasting reminder that it happened at a motel. And... more

When we arrived at the National Civil Rights Museum, there was a line snaking out the door, in the heat. No one seemed to know if this was the line to get in, the line to purchase tickets, what. And there was no representative of the facility there to direct people. When we finally did make it inside, a museum... more

You really must include this as part of your Memphis itinerary. The museum is awesome! We spent 3.5 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it as it was very thought provoking and inspirational. One of the highlights of our Deep South fly drive more

I cannot add much to the previous excellent reviews. One thing for sure is that there is much to see and much to read! We didn't allot enough time for our visit and had to rush through the last few exhibits. We spent about an hour and a half there, but you could easily spend twice that if not more... more

I visited the NCRM with a colleague while in Memphis on business and will DEFINITELY bring my family next year! I took the audio tour, which wasn't bad because you can pause and resume the tour at any point. There is lots of reading (and rightfully so considering the historical significance). While walking through the exhibits, you lose any sense... more

The information provided was so extensive that it took my mom, sister, and me ages to get through a room - as it should be, except the museum closed before we could get through all of it. We had to run through the 1970's til present exhibits just to get our cameras back in time. The rooms are arranged by... more

My wife and I rolled into Memphis in the mid-afternoon while on our drive from NYC to SF. The fact that Martin Luther King, Jr's anniversary of his death was the day before, it was not the reason we wanted to visit this site. It was a toss-up between seeing Graceland (Elvis digs) or the Lorraine Motel, and MLK won... more
