Beale Street: I was in Memphis, I have heard so much about it, so I had to experience Beale Street. It was a major disappointment. The only good thing that I can say is that the Coyote Ugly Bar is located in the 300-block of Beale Street and it is worth visiting. I stopped there for a few beers and... more

My wife and I had a great time on Beale Street. Service was great and restaurant and bar employees were helpful and ready to give you whatever information you needed. We had an especially good time at Coyote Ugly, even though we were probably the oldest couple in the bar (50-60). That place was really filling up at about 10... more

Brilliant isn't enough to describe the attraction of Beale Street. Every night is music night with a wide choice of venues which line both sides of the street, most if not all of them providing cheap well cooked food. Many of the clubs have patio's where anyone who considers themselves an entertainer of any sort is encouraged to get up... more

Myself and my husband flew to Memphis on Oct. 16th Oct from Ireland mainly to visit Graceland (why else we thought!). We stayed at the Madison Hotel, which is a fantastic hotel (FANTASTIC STAFF) just minutes walk from Beale Street. Beale Street street is full of interesting people, all with the same thing in mind - to have fun! We... more

Lots of fun wandering from place to place listening to music. Went on a Saturday night when things were really hopping, seemed to be either kids just barely old enough to get in or old fogies like us. Police security is very tight so felt safe. more

You don't have to be a die hard blues fan to love this little and cozy street. I read some comments comparing beale with bourbon street in new orleans but no they are totally different. This is a much more safe place with a soul in it. more

We visited Beale Stree last week when we stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel 16 - 19 September 2008. Graceland and Elvis was out of this world. My husband and I love Elvis and this was our second trip to Gracelanf and Beale Strret. We found Graceland and the Heartbreak Hotel out of this world a real dream. We did like... more

We were only in Memphis for the night on the way home from Louisiana. We arrived late and wanted to head to Beale Street for dinner. It was a Sunday so all the diners were closed and we were disappointed. The walk to Beale Street from the hotel was a little intimidating. We saw NO ONE. Spooky. We were escorted... more

I expected Beale Street to be a lot like Bourbon Street in New Orleans -- congested, dirty, smelly, loud and potentially dangerous. I was very pleasantly surprised. The streets were wide, clean and well-patrolled. I wasn't harassed by one single panhandler. Music from the various clubs spills out into the street, creating somewhat of a jarring cacaphony, but I guess... more

Our tour included 2 hours, self guided, at this Memphis lowlight. Back in the day it may have been something special but now it is simply a waste of your time. The one block area is blocked off from traffic at each end. Bars and nick nack shops line the sides. Several barkers invite you into their establishment. The absence... more
