We absolutely loved the Arran House Hotel! We (mom, dad and two girls ages 7 and 10) stayed for four nights in early August. The neighborhood is safe, close to Goodge Street tube stop, lots of restaurants nearby. We have just returned from our stay at Arran House. Great location, clean and warm room, comfortable beds and if you get the ensuite, very tiny, but serves the purpose.
