Me and my partner stayed there as a weekend away for my birthday and a great place to stay at, fab shuttle service from the city to the hostel. great staff overall, very helpful in advising us on the area and things to do. Def' reccomend to anyone thats looking for something different and on budget. Bit noisy at night... more

We had a pleasant 2 night stay at the globetrotter inn, however for 72 pounds for a double with ensuite (we got a twin and as the place was fully booked couldnt change) 20 mins from the city is not great value. Unfortunately during the festival with late booking this was all we could get, and we werent even going... more

Only the second time I've stayed in a hostel and it will most definately be the last. I'm no snob but the facilities were terrible. Toilets were disgraceful, showers little better. Having said that the staff were excellent and they have my sympathy as they clearly weren't helped by the loutish yobs, seemingly in their hundreds, unable to flush a... more

My partner and I stayed at the Globetrotter Inn as we were travelling on a budget. We opted for the double room with ensuite and were very pleased with the room. While the room is basic, we were happy with the comfort of the bed and the size of the room. Staff were pleasant to deal with, although our shower... more

I stayed in Globetrotter Inn Edinburgh in July 2007. I was satisfied with the hostel's service and room, however the hostel wasted a lot of plastic bags by packing each breakfast pack (just two pieces of bread) in a transparent plastic bag (the hostel's room charge includes breakfast). The hostel provided plates and all the cutlery in the kitchen and... more

Stayed : July, 2007, 2 nights. Facilities - Good enough for a short stay. They provide you kitchen, storage place, mini market, parking lot, lounge and as well as some vendor machine Environment & Distance - It is quite far from town if you dont have transport. Overall environment is excellent, behind the hostel is sea. It is very good... more

We wanted to stay somewhere cheap in Edinburgh, and the Globetrotter seemed to have pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience. Firstly, the so called 'free' shuttle from the Hostel to the city is not free, you need to pay £1.50 each way, and the trip takes a good 20 minutes. This single handedly limits... more

I have just returned from a 9-night stay at the Globetrotter with a party of 52 for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The hostel is in a beautiful location - just on the coast of Crammond and walking/jogging in the morning along the sea front is revitalising. The 42 bus takes you direct to Hanover Street, and stops right outside the... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here from July 13-16 and were extremely pleased with everything! Although it’s a bit out of the way, this hostel is right on the water, in what used to be a hotel. It has lots of double rooms with en-suite bathrooms (this is what we stayed in) as well as a restaurant/bar, convenience store, laundry,... more

We stayed here for three nights as a couple in a private room. The room was great and we had an awesome view onto the beautiful grounds. Breakfast was included but very limited. Noise was reasonable although it gets a bit rowdy in the bar downstairs. We avoided the bar as we got a bad vibe as it is packed... more
