This place could be great if the owners weren't so awful. The setting is nice and convenient to see Stewart Island, although it is grossly overpriced. The owners & family are rude, condescending, and act as though the guests are imposing on them. They clearly do not have the personality types to run a luxury lodge and should think seriously about... more

The lodge claims that guests should feel welcome to relax in the guest lounge, but unless... more

Whilst Margaret and Doug were... more

While Margaret was very nice and gracious, Doug seemed to have a somewhat hostile attitude toward guests who spend too much time at the lodge. Whilst I was relaxing in the common room, Doug seemed annoyed that I was spending... more
