Wakefield Quay was just the place we needed to start our NZ holiday after a long and frustrating journey to Nelson. We were greeted by Woodi, a lovely person who took such amazing care of us during our short stay. When we arrived, we had no cash and our debit cards had been demagnetized at one of the airports along... more

The Wakefield Quay House was the perfect end to our two week trip touring the South Island. First off, Woodi and Johnny are the most wonderful hosts. We arrived at the house just as the sun was setting and Woodi brought out some wine and delicious appetizers for us to enjoy on their marvelous deck overlooking the sunset over beautiful... more

Thoroughly enjoyed one night and would have stayed longer if the room hadn't been booked out. Beautifully appointed room with grand sea vista, watching (cruise) boats passing by from time-to-time. Woodi and Johnny were superb hosts, very friendly, helpful (including their knowledge of the local art scene) and personality to burn. Sundowners a specialty. Would love to return one day. more

A fab place in a superb country with great hosts, looking after you. This place has it all: friendly confident but discreet hosts who advise you if you want and leave on your own. They seem to know what people need - they read them well. The house embraces you like your favourite comfortable chair at home. The decor is... more

A gorgeous room with amazing view, superb, congenial hosts....Woodi and Johnny have created an atmosphere that is relaxed and welcoming and FUN! I was travelling alone, and had the pleasure of their company dining at a wonderful local restaurant. I hope to return to beautiful New Zealand, and wouldn't miss another stay at Wakefield Quay House. more

We stayed with Woodi and Johnny after our 5 day Queen Charlotte Sound Walk over Easter this year. It was a great place to stay, fantastic hosts, superb riesling! and great breakfasts. We wouldn't hesitate to head back there from Sydney if we are in that part of NZ again. Thanks. more

to the View, the room, the hosts...We had 3 wonderful nights in the Crows Nest room. To lie on the bed -very comfortable- and overlook (almost touch) the harbour is magic! Can't believe its so close to town. Fluffy towels & local products in the bathroom, Take a look at some of the interesting books and magazines they have. WW2... more

A B&B we will never forget, and for all the right reasons! It was my birthday and we booked a 1 night stay at Wakefield Quay House in beautiful Nelson on the bay in the South Island of NZ. Woodi (our hostess) e-mailed and warned us of an event happening next door that might be a bit disruptive. The house... more

Have returned from a month long stay in New Zealand today. It is a fabulous holiday destination with superb B&Bs - forget chain hotels. Wakefield Quay House was a wonderful experience. We've travelled extensively but have never before sat together on a bench seat in a bathroom looking out over a beautiful harbour. Woodi and Johnny are superb hosts and... more

We booked 3 nights at Wakefield Quay and were staying in the Crow's Nest. Woodi gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived and then Johhny brought our cases up to the room. We were overwhelmed at the views we had. The bathroom had a window seat and looked out over the sea. We had the balcony all to... more
