This must have been what it was like during the communist era. Unsmiling staff, poor rooms - if this is "refurbished" I can only guess at what it was like before. The room was small and the electric points were all in the wrong place for the internet cable. I only stayed there for one night thank God and had... more

Hotel location is on a busy street but that’s OK as it’s close to the Metro, a grocery store, free internet at McDonalds etc. Hotel is OK though rooms are not exceptional. Laptop – free connection only for 20 minutes and then 1500 Forints per hour - the usual T-mobile rip-off rates being used in most European hotels. There were... more

My boyfriend and I have just come back from a week in Budapest and stayed at the Mercure Budapest Metropol Hotel in Rakoczi Street. Having read a few web reviews about this hotel, I had some doubts as to what we were going to get for our money but I have to say that these all disappeared on arrival. The... more

Poor hotel. Rooms are very small. You cannot swing a racquet. Ugly deco. Small TV. Expensive internet connection (so expensive I didn't even try). Breakfast not included, mediocre and very expensive. Location is average. The area is a bit rough at night. Overall, very poor for Budapest. Bad experience. Wrong choice. Best to avoid unless there is no other choice... more

I spent two nights here in March. My room was quiet, not over-large but very adequate. The bed was comfortably soft, as I like it: duvets were supplied but when I asked for a couple of blankets and a sheet, they were delivered to my room promptly. The bathroom was immaculate. Service was friendly, courteous and helpful. Buffet breakfast, 7am-10am,... more

Having stayed in this hotel for thre nights, I can honestly say that our experience was somewhat better than some previous reviewers. We had a large room on the 5th floor - central windows on the night time photo. The room was clean and appropriately appointed, although as someone who needs two towels to dry of after showering, I found... more

We stayed in Mercure Metropol for 2 nights in Sept. It was perfect for our needs - we were on a short break to Budapest and needed somewhere that was clean, modern and good value. Gotr a web-deal for apporx EURO 70 per night. Room was fairly standard - hotel does not have large public area or lobby. But it... more

Hotel has good location. The only problem I had that they did not deliver anything they promissed for Business Club room. Main reason for booking this hotel was the high speed Internet in the room. After I checked-in I found that there is no Internet. Guy at front desk told me that I was placed on floor without Internet (room... more

A nice hotel, a bit far from the center, but you can reach by walking or taking the metro. The room was ok, as we expect from a Mercure, clean, the service was gentil and kind. We have booked without breakfast, but we have an excellent rate per day by the accor web site. more

This hotel was quite disappointing. Poor location, poor decor. It is outdated, uncomfortable. In the states this is the equivalent of a bad Motel 6. Breakfast wasn't included. Upon check-in there was a guest complaining that 60 Euros had been stolen from his room. DO NOT STAY HERE! Not even worth the $123 we paid. more
