Great location, especially for Verizon Arena (across the road) and the Spy Museum (next door). The other DC tourist sites are only a few blocks away. The property is a gem and I couldn't fault it. Great big rooms with every amenity, though not sure about the leopard skin print bathrobes, unique I guess. I only ever came across great... more

We had a room on the 3rd floor - very comfortable and quiet. Stayed for two nights. We had dinner on the patio at Poste the first night. Great food and ambience. The 2nd night we ate elsewhere, but came back to Poste just to take advantage of the warm night. It was fun watching people having a great time.... more

Husband, 9yo daughter and I were inches from booking our usual Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown, and decided to try this boutique hotel based on an enthusiastic review from Frommers, with special kudos for location--they hit that right on the head. We loved this little gem, tucked halfway between the White House and Cap Hill. It is directly across the street from... more

Hello Laurie0, Thank you for staying at our hotel. I am glad that you and your daughter liked the location. It pleases me to hear about how you brought the hotel story to live and helped excite your daughter about history. I do apologize for the service at the Poste. I will pass your comments on to the staff. Thank...

Loved this hotel! It is my favorite Kimpton thus far. The rooms are a bit small but that's to be expected in a historic property. The building is beautiful and the decor gorgeous. As always, the Kimpton bed is soooo comfortable. The hotel only has three floors but I was amazed at how quiet the rooms are. Really nice Penn... more

The Hotel Monaco Washington DC offers a prime location just across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and the Verizon (f.k.a. MCI) Center. There are several good restaurants (Jaleo, Zatinya, and Rosa Mexicano to name three) and a bowling alley within a one block radius. 3 of the 5 metro lines are accessible at Gallery Place just across the... more

Stayed here on business, beautiful and huge building right in the centre of DC, (used to be the Post Office apparently) imposing corridors and large rooms with high ceilings tastfully decorated with all mod cons. Very comfortable beds and L'Occitaine products in the bathroom, good gym too. Can't comment on the value for money because it was booked through company... more

We chose the Hotel Monaco mainly because of its great location and it really scores on that count. We also got a better deal than the other 5 star hotels were offering. We could walk to almost all the "sights" and had a wonderful visit to Washington generally. There are also many restaurants in the vicinity. I particularly recommend Cocina... more

We wanted to have a nice quiet vacation and we couldn’t in this NOISY HOTEL. They had a big conference at the end of our corridor; yes the same corridor where the rooms are. We could hear everything, and by this I mean since they started carrying and placing the tables, chairs etc… to the party, and of course till... more

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco because of the location, which is indeed terrific, and the great price we got--about 1/2 the $$ shown on Trip Advisor page. After being cautioned in reviews about room size and lower floor rooms we reserved a Monte Carlo room. When we arrived and were to be on the lower floor, we requested a... more

We stayed here in January of 2008 for 3 nights. Fabulous location - across the street from the Verizon Center and the Portrait Gallery. The hotel looks like a Smithsonian museum from the outside. Pluses Concierge was helpful prior to stay - all room requests were granted Unique decor and atmosphere-you could choose your animal themed bathrobe Complimentary Evening reception... more
