We made a booking via Hostels.com, and specifically asked for a twin room. When we arrived there was no twin room, but a tiny double room. The mattress wasnt even fit for my dog, as it looks like it was pre WW2, the bathroom door does not close as it was wrapped, there was a big window directly opposite the... more

Management response from
Roryspub, Owner

It is impossible to book a twin room in Hostels.com for Rory's Guesthouse , since there has only ever been a single room or a double room (room with double bed) available, I have no twin rooms and they are not an available option in Hostels.com for my guesthouse. I can't respond to any of the other comments as it...

Rory totally screwed us....when we arrived in Phnom Penh and took a taxi to Rory's Pub, we found out that he had given our reservation away. I guess this is why he doesnt ask for a deposit??? One of his waitresses did try and help us find another room, and after looking around 2 hotels close by (we were walking... more

We stayed 2 nights ($20 per night) in Jan. Our double room on the top (3rd floor) was fairly small and furnishing was basic - double bed (well-used, sagging in the middle), small cupboard, satellite TV, mini fridge. The airconditioning worked as did the ceiling fan. The shower had hot water but the water pressure was quite low. Rory's doesn't... more

With very warm hearted and welcoming Khmer staff and a great host, this is a terrific place to stay in central Phnom Penh. The food was filling and tasty and the room comfortable. Many people who work in town also pop in for drinks at the end of the day and provide a wealth of useful local info. I'm returning... more

I am amazed at the reviews this place is given and I booked Rory's based on the reviews on this website which were few but positive. Perhaps there is another Rory's in Phnom Phen as the one I arrived at was an absolute dump. The room I was given ($35 p.n.) was far from clean with funny coloured stains on... more

We had a nice stay in this guesthouse during our two nights in Phnom Penh. Like the other reviewers we wondered how loud the place would be above an Irish pub. It turned out to be a very, very quiet pub, specializing in whiskey. Guiness was not on tap (and was $6 a bottle) and strongbow was not even on... more

Had a great time, stayed longer than I had expected. The staff, food and location were very good. What I found best about Rory's was the amount of people I met who lived in Phnom Penh, some of whom lived in Cambodia for 10 - 15 years, who gave me great tips and a great insight into Cambodia. I would... more

Good reasonablly priced accommodation. Best bedroom is the one with the balcony which has a bit more light and area than some of the others. The bar is suprisingly quite and doesn't have loud music playing which I was apprehensive about when booking. Stayed 4 nights as a relax holiday rather than a back packer. Best things: Really good location... more

The location is great, 2 min walk to the National Museum, few more minutes to the Royal Palace, about 5 to the river. The rooms are super cheap $8-12 US per night. Clean, reasonably comfy bed, a/c and a ceiling fan, decent bathroom/shower. Pub downstairs is ok, food not so great though and staff mostly pleasant. Loud music played in... more

I chose this place b/c the owner was EXTREMELY helpful (above and beyond) when I was emailing back and forth with him about accommodation and gave me a discount when he really didn't have to. But he was out of town while we were there and the language issue was a bit of a difficulty with his staff... so they... more
