Helendorf Inn has the best location in town...right next to shops/restaurants. However, do not expect much. The facility is very old, outdated, with very basic amenities. The rooms are tiny, smelly, and in no way worth the $129 per night we paid. I'd strongly recommend bringing your own pillow. If you're able to walk an extra 5-10 minutes I'd recommend... more

Stayed for one night this past weekend while Helen was having their Hot Air Balloon weekend, and also a motorcycle get together. I have read many of the reviews below and unfortunately have to agree with many of the complaints that have been written. The room itself is a lot larger than many of the newer hotels; the room was... more

The Helendorf Inn is an old hotel that is in dire need of a facelift. While we found the rooms clean and the staff friendly, the building itself screams for attention. Most of it needs painted. The hotel sits on the banks of the Chatahoochee River and the first floor rooms have a patio on the river. There are railroad... more

We have stayed here twice and it is cute. If they remodeled, it would lose its old world style. The people who work here go out of their way to do things for the customers. We do agree that there is an odor, but it is near the river and it is old. We happened to come on a weekend... more

We went to Helen to get away and celebrate my 50th birthday.I can honestly state that I would have rather stayed at home.Thank goodness I took my own pillow because the bed linen, pillows, and mattress were all very worn and had a musty mildew smell as well as the entire room. One would think your nose would get tired of the smell... more

Our room was old and run down. Smelly. Had mold on ceiling everwhere. Mold in the Bathroom and was dirty, floor was coming up in the bathroom. Carpet was dirty. Our room really needed to be redone. Worse of all the Bed had a BOARD between the mattress. We were traveling with a small 7lb pet but we should not... more

I loved my stay at the Helendorf and would suggest anyone wanting to be at the best location in helen, would look up this hotel.... I would also like to add that the staff was excellent. One clerk, Chicagobob, went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. I wish all customer service employees could be more like this gentlemen.... more

Overall I enjoyed staying at the Helendorf. It is an older motel and not fancy but for staying on the river it was perfect. The thing that ticked me off was I feel like I was cheated. I called the Monday before we were to go that weekend and asked for a standard room at $84 per night. When we... more

I am a return visitor to the Helendorf . It is not for the high maintenance type, so if you are used to the Ritz, then this is not the place for you. However, if you like just a nice, quiet, comfortable, clean hotel in a great location, this is your place. As mentioned above, the location cannot be beat.... more
