We had difficulty finding anywhere in Boston over the Columbus day weekend but found several reviews of the B&B Inn which were OK. Location was good within 200 yards of a T station (although the trams do cause some noise when they rumble past the front of the Inn). The downside was the breakfast which was a serve yourself job... more

. I had a very unpleasant stay there and did not feel like the Inn tried to correct the problems they created for me and make me happy as their customer. Their manager Carmen was very rude and argumentative, lied to me about what he would do, and refused to deal with the issues at hand On May 19th 2008... more

I concur with other reviews that the most attractive features of the Beacon Inn are price and location, depending on where you want to be of course. I needed to be in the Allston/ Brookline area for one night and to have access to off street overnight parking, as parking on the street is not allowed in Brookline overnight. The... more

My husband and I and 3 other couples all booked our mini vacation here back in July 2008. We had searched and searched for affordable accomodations for months that would be near to downtown and have easy access to RT 95 for a side trip up to Maine. This hotel is the reason for the phrase "you get what you... more

This place was fantastic - charming, nicely furnished, in lovely neighborhood. We had some apprehension because of the earlier reviews (which we didn't read until after making the booking) - but thought the place was terrific. Exactly what we wanted. People who desire a chain hotel experience should seek that out - this is a former house, with all the... more

We arrived at 9 pm after the staff departed. The mattress was approx 20 years old, collapsed on the sides and like sleeping on a board. The room has an emergency exit in it and a lighted EXIT sign glowed all night. Also, the room cannot be locked securely as this is an emergency egress. We hardly slept all night... more

The Beacon Inn 2 did not provide heat on a cold night. They did not even make the bed with a blanket. After searching through the drawers, we found one thin cotton blanket. They did not provide facial tissues. There was no staff on duty after 9PM to correct any problems. If you like to eat a continental breakfast standing... more

This B & B is in a house that is about a hundred years old and it has a lot of charm, but some of the wear and tear is more than you would expect. While it is in very good condition overall; our main issue was the locks on our room door had to be jiggled to fully engage.... more

I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting with my teenage daughter at a time when hotel prices were all in the $200-range all over town, and I just didn't want to spend that much. We stayed in a large front first-floor room the first night and on the 3rd floor for the second two nights. This is a simple... more

Came for a visit to nearby BC. Shabby, small, pitiful appointments. So all we really needed was a bed ( lousy mattress and beddings) and a bath ( who needs water pressure ?) yet each was the worst - literally. My complaint and a request to change rooms were futile. And probably a blessing in disguise. This is the only... more
