My aunt and I booked two rooms with a shared bath. It was our little suite! We were out all day and then came home each night to this cozy little home. We loved our rooms and the price was amazing. Having a fridge and free wireless was terrific. We had a rented car and there was always a place... more

Canal St. GH is a gem. Best prices in New Orleans, and a thoroughly satisfying stay. Its clean, comfortable and accomadating. Mr. Sam and Mrs. Kathey do their best to make you feel welcome and can share interesting stories as well as recommendations in the city. The GH is right across from a Canal St. streetcar stop (which you can... more

Dear reader, if you've been this far in your research for accommodation in NO, then look no further. I came to this site looking for a special place to stay while visiting such a special city. I hate franchises, specially when Im in the US (Im from Spain) you dont really know where you at, all the Holiday Inn's look... more

My husband and I went to New Orleans to visit my parents last week and stayed at the Canal Street Guesthouse. Our room had a private bath with a great old-fashioned claw foot tub. Plenty of hot water too. We had french doors which opened up to the balcony and because the weather was so lovely, we spent a lot... more

I stayed for a week in August and loved it. Clean, comfortable, the streetcar stops right outside, and you can walk to the Quarter in about 15 minutes. There are laundry facilities, and a free internet connection, as well as a shared kitchen. Sam and Kathey are great, very kind to a tired traveller. more

I stayed with my wife at the Canal Street Guesthouse for the second time, but the first time since hurricane Katrina. The Guesthouse is as nice and wonderful as it has been before and the hospitality of Kathy and Sam is simply breathtaking. Its like coming back to old friends! The room was spacious and nice and had a private... more

Recently came to New Orleans to attend my niece's graduation from Tulane University. Got a tip from a friend about the Canal Street Guest House, and my wife and I were not disappointed. The owners, Sam and Kathey, were great hosts. We stayed in the bunkhouse room which was appointed with mementos from Sam's family's long history in Texas. The... more

If you can live simply, this is the place for you. Clean, quiet, economical and close enough to the "action" of New Orleans. Don't leave without having Sam tell you his stories! more

I have stayed at the Canal Street Guesthouse a couple of times in the past years. Kathy and Sam make you feel right at home... and if you want to REALLY get a taste of the spirit of New Orleans, this is the place for you. The guest house is the meaning of old style new orleans... I recently lost... more

I stayed here just after Mardi Gras for a week-long internship. Sam and Kathey were very helpful in getting me oriented, the room and accommodations were as promised, and Kathey even gave me pepto when I got sick. The guesthouse is right across the street from the cable car car stop, but it's also an easy walk to downtown or... more
