The Lamothe House is located on Esplanade Avenue, one of the French Quarter's most famous streets, with its ancient live oaks and frequent sightings of horse-drawn carriages. Esplanade is a bounding street of the French Quarter, so you are steps away from the action, but not sleeping in the middle of it. In addition to its convenient location, Esplanade Avenue also offers some of New Orleans' oldest and most interesting architecture. The hotel is within 4 blocks of the historic French Market. more » « less

I have to say right up front, the lamothe House is a great place to stay. I'm not sure what was going on with the negative reviews, but I can say that our stay, and the stay of the other 40 guests who came for my Daughters wedding, was wonderful. We had rooms in the main building, the carriage house,... more

I recenlty stayed at the Lamothe House. We booked our trip through BookIt.com. After reading a few of the bad reviews, I wasn't sure what I was getting into, but after a long day of air travel, I was ready for a nice place to rest my head. As expected, our room was in the Marigny House, which is located... more

We stayed in the beautiful Lafayette Suite which was straight out of a southern gothic storybook. Beautiful antique furniture and decor, old style walls and curtains, and generously proportioned (picture makes it look smaller than it actually is!). Bed was a huge comfy four poster and their were solemn paintings on the walls of Victorian ancestors we could pretend were... more

We booked our room through venere.com and were a little bit nervous due to the mixed reviews on TA. We were pleasantly surprised! The location was wonderful--on the edge of the French Quarter on Esplanade, very close to everything. Frenchmen Street is right around the corner for great local bars/music. The inside of the hotel and rooms were gorgeous--filled with... more

I stayed at the Lamothe House this past weekend. I was in a king suite - room 117 - and found it absolutely wonderful! Full of antique, period furniture. I had friends staying there as well, and got to check out their room. Again, nice furniture and a nice, extremely large room. For the price, it can't be beat! It... more

I recently stayed in New Orleans for 3 nights with my partner, on our extended trip around Europe & the USA. It was the end of the summer season & quietening down a little, but we were still able to visit a lot of the city & surrounding areas, & enjoyed ourselves a great deal. We booked our accommodation via... more

We booked out stay at the Lamothe House through BOOKIT.COM. We traveled with our 3 month old child to New Orleans on 10/11/08 and had a very bad experience at the Lamothe House. Upon checking in to the hotel our host, Shawn, told us that we had a very nice room. However, when we got to out room we found... more

It seems that this guest was having a bad day. What was explained by Rita to the guest was that WE would have had nothing to do with a Bookit reservation past accommodating it. This woman's simple-minded insistence that WE take of HER bookit reservation was explained to her on a number of occasions. She obviously did not like the...

We stayed at the Lamothe house in July of this yr. for a week and found it a wonderful experience. The beds were very comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The location of the hotel is in itself a huge seller being within walking distance to the quarter and local stores on frenchman street. The building itself was a... more

I stayed at the Lamothe with my son, his wife and my great-neice age 15, we had two rooms. It was in a good location and easy walk to the tolley at the Riverwalk area. There are no close by restaurants that we could go to since we had a minor with us. Every place we went served alcohol and... more

Let me assure everyone that it is standard policy for staff to contact guests when indeed having inquiries into using a credit card at any time when the guest has left. Guests at times do check in with one credit card, have a great time in New Orleans, and then decided to divide payment into 3 ways upon checking out....

We spent two nights in New Orleans before leaving on a cruise from there. I booked the Lamothe House inspite of some "bad" reviews I had read on here. We had a room, actually a suite in the Marigny House. The air conditioner had a hard time, but let's face it, it is July in New Orleans and the ceilings... more
