The room was bigger than expected and very, very clean. It is a great place if you plan on just sleeping there and spending the rest of the day somewhere else. It was very quiet - we didn't hear any truck traffic. It's an older hotel that reminds you of the motels of the fifties and unfortunately the pool shows... more

I can't believe we stayed in the same place that the others reviews were about. The place was empty, yet they put us in the room right next to the major route out of town. We listened to trucks and loud cars all night. The room was cleaned with a chemical that was close to toxic in smell. The bed,... more

This hotel was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel sits on a big piece of property so there is ample amount of parking and many activities such as a heated pool and 18 hole mini crolf course. on the property. Since it was the week before the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, it took me a while to find anything reasonably priced. I asked if the Dakota had any family rooms, and was given a room with a separate "back" bedroom, for a total of 3 Q beds. stayed 2 nights - good location for exploring the black hills. within an hour of jewel cave (highly recommended!), mount rushmore, custer state park, and bea country USA (a must if you have kids). comfy, clean and fairly spacious. fridge in room, tv, etc. within walking distance of downtown custer. would stay again. more

We really didn't know what to expect to find such a reasonable price while the Sturgis Rally was going on but we were very plesantly surprised. Very friendly owners, and a nice clean property. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in the town of Custer, I enthusiastically recommend the Dakota Cowboy Inn.
