Made reservation in person at the front desk. Asked to see a room. Went to look at it (1e floor) and it smelled kinda mildewy. Went back to front desk and told her what I found. She offered an upgraded room on the 4th floor for the same price. Went and looked. Smelled fine, had nice beds and an open... more

Stayed there before, so we knew what to expect. $100 does not take you very far on the Big Island, so Uncle Billy's rather evokes a mainland roadside motel atmosphere than Hawai'i resort luxury. But the location makes it all worth while, we had a superior room on the third floor, nice view and everything in Kona within walking distance.... more

My sister and I decided to stay at Uncle Billy's Kona Hotel after we were advised by a traveling nurse, who had stayed there, that it was a clean place but nothing fancy. We had the last room on the top floor to the right. The first night, the bathroom smelled of urine but was cleaned every day after check... more

I had a 3 day (2 night) job assignment in Kona, and wasn't going to be in the room much, so decided to go with the cheap place with central location. I think my room was 'deluxe' (booked through my office travel manager, so not sure), as it was air conditioned (compared with a co-worker's, whose room was not AC).... more

Don't ever go to Uncle Billy's in Kona... Unless you like sleeping with rats. Yes, my girl and I were disturbed by one giant Kona rat in the middle of the night. It at my malasada, jumped on the bed and then ran out through crack in the lava rock wall. We tried to get the room comped the next... more

The carpet was very dirty, the bathroom tub was very slow going down the drain, there were cockroach running around in the room, and have a very strong smell in the room. Spend little bit more $$ to stay at a better and nice hotel on your vacation. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. more

Picked this place for the location, because I had my 87 yr old Mother with me. But I would not recommed this place to my friends or my enemies. It was very dirty. The office people could care less along with the manger. The place needs to be totally remolded. The wild animals are cleaner than the hotel is. more

The location is great but the hotel is very budget. old, run down, but moderately clean. If you're just looking for a place to rest your weary head in a central location, this is the place to be. There are no amenities in the room at all. No fridge, micro or coffee maker. It was the best bang for my... more

Okay well I will start off with I got to my hotel around 10 pm, and when I got there, they had no reservation from me, apparently expedia hadnt sent them any information, so I had to pay to get on the internet, and pay to print off my reservation paper( not that it was expensive, but still not the... more

We just returned from the unforgettable experience of Uncle Billy's Kona Bay hotel. Though we had set up reservations weeks ahead of the actual arrival date, we were unable to get a room with a view nor were we given a choice. We expressed dissatisfaction with our room but were not able to change. Our room actually had wall paper... more
