We really enjoyed this hotel and thought it was charming. We stayed the first and last night of our trip and enjoyed both rooms. The first stay we were given a third floor suite, which had a separate sleeping area, tons of windows, dressing area and kitchenette. We asked for a room in the back of the hotel because of... more

In my Fodors travelguide the Historic Anchorage is described as the last hotel with charm in Anchorage. It is a charming hotel with a real cozy vibe. **The location is perfect for exploring downtown Anchorage. The Weekend Market is just a block away (well worth visiting - just keep in mind it only runs in the summer. We were there... more

If the peace and quiet of the Alaskan great outdoors is getting to you, this is the place to stay. Conveniently located across from a busy bar as well as a dance club, you can not only hear but also feel the throbbing disco beat all night long. Add to that construction noise and the sound of heavy trucks rumbling... more

This hotel is the ideal place to stay in Anchorage. Beautiful quaint rooms and very clean and comfortable. Decorative floor fan kept room very comfortable since there's no A/C. The manager at this hotel went above and beyond to recommend things to do and places to stay on our journey. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was a plus!... more

Please see my pictures below. I'm giving this hotel 4 stars because this was fun place to stay. Also, the staff are so helpful and positive. There are a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The room we had was like a mini-suite and was on the top floor. I would recommend booking a room on the top... more

We were very impressed with this "boutique" hotel! The staff was wonderfully helpful and the location was perfect to see lots of downtown Anchorage. Everything was very clean and we loved the breakfast which was served in the coffee shop attached to the hotel! Even got to make our own waffles! more

Stayed at the Anchorage Hotel on April 18-19 after abandoning our reservation at the Sherton due to poor service. While this property isn't going to win any awards for decor or amenities, we found our room both cozy and clean and the hotel ideally located. Also enjoyed the historic photographs hung throughout the hotel. We had a corner room which,... more

A vintage Alaska hotel nestled in the heart of Anchorage. Not a 4 Star hotel, but the room was well furnished with stylish and comfortable furniture. Hotel provided a standard Continental breakfast and free hot beverages in the bar in the afternoon (it had no liquor license at the time.) Because of it's location in downtown Anchorage, excellent restaurants and... more

Let me start with saying that the hotel is Ok nothing great. All the comments you may read about the, " Super great breakfast" are well strange, the breakfast is nice but it is nothing that you would not get at any Hotel the likes of a Comfort inn, or Holiday inn. Bottom line you get your basic free breakfast.... more

When we arrived tired from travel, schlepping our luggage on foot, they informed us a tour group had extended their stay and there would be no rooms for my husband and me, nor for my elderly mother who was with us. I thought a reservation meant that they would hold the rooms, especially since we had paid in full in... more
