We have just come back from a family post-Christmas break in Iceland for 5 nights. After spending 3 nights in Reykjavik, we took a public bus to Hella. It involved a change of bus at Selfoss but everything went smoothly. The Hotel Ranga is a 5 minute taxi ride away from the town centre of Hella and off the main... more

Lovely hotel, with hot tub right outside our room. Nice 'cabin' style room and lovely bathroom. Excellent service at Reception, restaurant etc. This was the only hotel in Iceland we ate an evening meal at - and forums suggesting Iceland is expensive for food are not wrong! We did have 4 courses and wine but £150 just about covered it!... more

Every aspect of this hotel was marvellous. The staff and service were brilliant. The food, including a special Christmas buffet was of the highest standard, and although relatively expensive, excellent value for money compared with London restuarants. Following a huge snowfall one night, the drive to the main road was cleared immediately next day by snow plough. The hottubs were... more

Traveling through Southern Iceland was going to be amazing no matter where we stayed but this Hotel, that appears to be in the middle of nowhere, was one of the many highlights of our trip. From the moment we checked in we found the staff to be warm, gracious, sincere and committed to providing us with a superb experience. The... more

This is a must if you are traveling in South Iceland. It was such a good surprise to find a wonderful hotel there. Rooms are very good and the food were the best we had in Iceland. Expensive but worth it. My kids loved it too. more

We spent our final 3 nights in Iceland in this hotel having driven around the east of the island and then back through the highlands in a 4x4. We'd stayed in 8 other hotels on our trip and this was by far the best. They were still carrying out building works but the workmen didn't start until after 08.30 and... more

I stayed at the hotel for my birthday. It was wonderful! Coming from US I was nervous that I didn't know the language, but everyone spoke English and made me feel very comfortable. Being a huge seafood fanatic, I could not believe how amazing and fresh everything was. Thanks to the chef - everything was just yummy! Went to see... more

We stayed at hotel Ranga hoping to see the Northern light. Hotel Ranga is an excellent place for this unique phenomenon. The hotel has great knowledge of the Northern light phenomena and they kept us with daily update. While waiting we enjoyed the superb restaurant and can highly recommend the Icelandic surf and turf and the 4 Oceans symphony and... more

Hotel Ranga promises to be very special from the brochure, but doesn't in reality live up to this claim. The hotel itself is located just off Route 1 about 8km east of Hella. It is rather dated in style with pine wood interiors and small superior rooms looking out either onto the river or the car park. Rooms had a... more
