This was my 8th or more stay at the Waikiki Gateway...from October 26 to November 8, 2008. I want to thank all the staff from the Front Desk Manager, Jon Tanaka, to Kainoa, simply the friendliest and funniest young man at the Front Desk, to Tom, also the Front Desk and Wayne, the Security Guard for making my two weeks... more

Aloha Mr. Barolet, Please know that we appreciate your kind words and loyalty and we are sorry to hear about your backache, but it sounds like the cause may have been from the laughter resulting from Kainoa's humor! I noticed that you mentioned the TV reception was unsatisfactory. We strongly recommend that any problems be reported to our friendly (and...

If you're looking for somewhere that is not too expensive in a good location in Waikiki, the Gateway is not a bad place to stay. It's certainly an older hotel, and the decor is a little dated, but if you want new and shiny you have to pay for it! My friends and I shared two rooms with adjoining doors,... more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in late October. The front desk staff could not have been nicer to us. This is an older hotel, that we found to be very clean and well maintained. We asked about a late check out time. The desk person said he would have to check with his manager. Manager come out... more

We would like everyone to know that we do have a complimentary hospitality room for those of you that arrive early and/or have a late flight out. This room is available on a first come, first served basis and features cable television, air-conditioning, leather furniture, internet...

I stayed again in June of 2008, because I had a great time in June of 2007. Being on somewhat of a tight budget, the price was excellant for the location. Very good free breakfast. Great view, air conditioner worked, and the T.V. worked. That was all my son & I needed. I will be staying again in August of... more

Aloha Crystalaziza, Thank you for your vote of confidence; we definitely appreciate it! I noticed that you mentioned your air-conditioner could have worked better. While we have many preventive maintenance programs in place including one for servicing air-conditioners, due to our year round high volume, sometimes issues like this one occur. Rest assured that we have a stock of brand...

ok, maybe my title is a little brutal, but seriously, the room was pretty dumpy. All the furniture was extremely worn, with most of the wood finish scratched off. The bed was really unconfortable. Our front door was so beat up, it looks like someone took a hockey stick to it. We were looking for a cheaper place to stay... more

While it is unfortunate that our property was not satisfactory for you and we are happy to hear that you found somewhere you liked and hopefully enjoyed yourself. Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable insight and we apologize that our room size, location, amentities, etc, were found unsatisfactory by you. We are also happy to point...

I stayed at the Waikiki Gateway for two weeks with two teen age girls, and all three of us loved our stay at the hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the people manning the Expedia desk were awesome. I found all the employees working at the hotel to be very polite, friendly and helpful (I don't think... more

"LiloPrincess" thank you for your kind words. We truly appreciate it as comments like these are the true reward for our efforts. We are happy to hear that you appreciated the unnoticed perks like having two main buslines just outside of the hotel that can take you anywhere on the island; that we are main pick up point for many...

Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT stay here. Yes the pictures online on Travelocity and the hotel's website look great, but be aware only the lobby looks good and the pictures of the room is their penthouse suite. The rest is less than desirable. I had booked a room for a full size bed andwhen I got up to... more

"Monkey24" we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us and we can only assume that you found a better hotel and a better value. On occasion, travel agents do not advise the hotel's of guest requests. While requests are not "guaranteed," I can say with absolute certainty that all guest requests are reviewed and that we...

Knowing you typically get what you pay for, I was a bit skeptical in choosing this hotel for my recent trip to Honolulu given their price is far lower than the vast majority of hotels in the area. None the less I took a chance and gave it a shot. I am so glad that I did! The Waikiki Gateway... more

I felt this was a great deal. The hotel lobby is very modern and well-done. The rooms not so much but my expectations were low because of the price and proximity to Waikiki Beach. I traveled with a large group of 16 and the entire hotel staff were very helpful. We only stayed one night since we were leaving for... more

The mattress has not been replaced for a 100 years. A homeless person would not sleep on a bed like this. There was a generator directly outside my window, that kept me up the whole night with its constant noise. The complimentary continental breakfast was outside my other window - so I had the noise of a huge crowd 10... more
