A big let-down: the selection fell far short of a great high tea. There was only one cheese on offer in a country that produces a raft of great cheeses, nondescript (and unlabeled) cut sandwiches; ordinary little quiche tartlets mixed among the cakes; a number of cakes, all unlabeled as to content; scones in one section, cream (though not clotted)... more

I would recommend dining at the 'Chef's Table' on Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town for a truly personal dining experience. You need to book in advance and arrange a special menu for your party beforehand. The minimum is for 6 people and maximum 10 people. We took some friends who were visiting from UK and they couldn't actually believe you... more

Apparently one of the 100 things you must do before you die is to have High Tea at the Mount Nelson. It was great- a huge buffett spread with pots of tea and coffee. Sit in the lounge or in the chequered conservatory and enjoy! Would highlt recommend! more
