We went in Early November 2007, and enjoyed the hotel, staff and food. We had a 3 bedroom suite overlooking the bay. It was clean, no mold and no problems. The staff was very courteous and the waitstaff at the restaurant were exceptional. We went to a 4 star restaurant one night and had horrible service so never ventured away from meza Del Mar again. Would go there again.

“Most disgusting place ever!!!”

A friend of a friend recommended this property which sounded like a good value. What a nightmare! It started with our group's 5 kids ages 14 to 8 learning about the gay party scene upclose and personal. Google gay Vallarta and Blue Chairs so you know what your family can prepare for on your shared beach.

The room itself was revolting, with leaking/open sewage smell directly outside our ground floor door (which was 5 floors below street level and backed onto an open dirt hilside). The room was dank and mouldy and the shower had only been partially grouted (in the 1970s?). The toilet had stains and the ants in the wall nest (inside the telephone jack) made fun sport for the kids ("Whack an ant" with the phone book.) The entire suite had slid well past its prime with sparse to no decor and and aged kitchen with no running water and a rusty stove (which we immediately turned the gas off to so we didn't die in our sleep) Don't believe the pictures in the brochure!

The crowd was primarily those interested in a cheap drunk and those with families trying to seek a fair value for money. The low quality drinks led to overindulgence and lewd behaviour and heavy smoking. The pool was tiled and hadn't been upgraded in years and was tiny in comparison to the size of the resort. Any positive 'beach factor' was also eliminated with the blasting disco from the neighboring beach bar that shares the frontage with its clientele.

The staff were hard working and seemed to put up with a lot of embarassing, self-indulgent behaviour by intoxicated and demanding cheap-vacationers. Spend the money and go somewhere else!!

This place really was a good deal. it was all inclusive, and coming from a Seattlelite, spending a week and a half on Los Muertos beach in PV during Christmas was great. However, the food got really boring. Kind of the same thing, day after day. The drinks were all inclusive too, but they didn't use "the good stuff." If you know what I mean. The location was good. The pool was kind of crappy, definately nothing to write home about. Really, it was all about the beach, location, and value. Overall it was a great value, but nothing fancy.

“BORING”

Well me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel November 2nd through to the 9th. When we first arrived at the hotel we were suppose to have an ocean view room but of course like many who have stayed at this hotel.... we were DE-GRADED to a standard room. Which wasn't so bad but there was no view. Atleast it had airconditioning. We had to wait a few days before getting into a better room. The new room had a balcony overlooking the ocean and a television and a phone..... but those were mearly put there for looks ..... you could only call the front desk and the t.v would cost money. The worst part about this hotel is that the gate down to the road by the beach locks at 8pm. Which really sucks because then you have to go all the way to the top of the hotel and TRUST ME..... its quite the jaunt. And then you will need to walk down a big mountain side ride made out of broken rocks and unlevel ground. Most times we just took a cab down. I would reccomend that a person wear comfy STABLE footwear to make this jaunt. Make sure you pick up some spanish too before hitting this hotel.... Not many workers in this hotel speak english and if they do it is very little. The place boasted about a beautiful tennis court but the truth is..... It has cracks and instability.... as in there are like speed bumps so to speak. The food is decent...... decent enough to eat if you are straving to death and have no energy to go anywhere else...... hahaha...... no no.... some nights you may luck out and get something tasty..... but not often. The drinks are ok...... nothing special..... runny pina coladas....vodka....cheap tequila and rye. Oh and back to this walking to the TOP OF THE HOTEL thing after the gate closes at 8pm..... I should tell you..... the elevators are the BIGGEST rip off...... they stop running at 8 pm too....!!!!! Lunch is served at the beach patio...... IT IS DISGUSTING!!!!!! The best thing to order is nachos..... one night at supper we had a choice of what to have served to us.... I picked the bbq chicken..... DO NOT ORDER THIS!!!!!!!! it was a chicken neck and spine..... like puke!!! Another thing to was the maid service..... they always did our room so nice but many mornings like most couples I am sure.... we would engage into some intimate mexican bedroom behavior(hee hee) and the maids would knock and bust in..... LIKE OMG!!!!! we learned by the last day that yelling sternly and loudly " NO NO SENYORITA!!! EL SCRAMO!"---- is the only thing that works! But after staying at a different hotel in sayulita (half way through our trip) I was dying to go back to meza del mar..... Thr truth is.... meza del mar felt like home. A few flaws... but you make it what you want.

“Great Value. GAY Friendly”

Club Meza Del Mar Suites

Oct 9, 2007
5/5 found this review helpful

I am 35 , my girlfriend is 30. We went for 2 weeks through xmas and new years. It was lovely. No, this is not a fancy hotel, but it's clean, friendly and in the heart of the action. We are gay and wanted to be close to the Blue Chairs. It was great. We had a view of the ocean, and were a stone's throw from Blue Chairs. The staff were friendly, and didn't blink an eye over my partner and I holding hands or kissing. We met another gay couple there and partied for the whole two weeks.
The only thing I didn't like was the old man at the front desk wasn't very nice...but everyone else was super. Our waiter on the beach was sweet and remembered our orders.
The food was okay, not a huge variety, but really great breakfasts. You get tired of eating at the same place for two weeks, so we ate out quite a bit...but the food was okay if you are really on a budget.
We paid 1700 for 2 weeks, that was awesome.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to some of the reviews. This is a value hotel, it's quaint and cosy. If you are stuffy about hotels and expect 5 star everywhere you go, then this isn't your place...actually neither is Mexico for that matter, but if you just want to go with friends, have some fun, not spend too much money, and be in the heart of downtown, then this is a great place. I would stay again. Oh yeah, but the elevators are scary..ha ha, take the stairs.
