Hi
I stayed at this hotel last month and the pool was finished and open to guests.
It is very close to the train station it is a five ten min walk at most you come out of the station cross over all the trams station then cross over the road and head left follow the road and the hotel is on the main road so you cant miss if you are on the right road its in the corner and it’s a huge art deco building but I would suggest asking direction but I have pointed you in the right direction.
We booked a deluxe room which I think is the most basic one they do, we booked it through expedia and got it for £137 per night this included free mini bar which was re stocked every day (ever thought expedia stated it was not included) this price did not include breakfast but breakfast is excessive it is about £25 , there is lots of place you can grab breakfast of a lot less and very near buy.
The bedrooms were very spacious and luxurious and well decorated, the beds are huge and so comfortable and it is a pleasure when the day/evening has ended and you have to go back to your hotel. The concierge is very helpful and knows his stuff as you would expect in a five star, every recommendation was very good.
We will be returning to this hotel as I think it makes Amsterdam just that little more fantastic when you stay in such a nice hotel,
The hotels is original art deco and is very charming , I must admit I was not instantly wowed but the hotels décor as I have been in other 5 stars but this is because it is authentic and they have tried to keep its original state so its not cutting edge design, but very beautifully in its own right.
The only down side to this hotel that I could find is that I found the bar staff not to be experienced enough to be working in a 5 star but still good by many other establishments standards im sure. We had to wait for a sandwich one morning which took 1h 15mins and the bar man handled it very badly instead of speaking to us and telling us that something had gone wrong he just did not say anything and waited until we approached him 45min later , the end result they offered us a free drink which is fine but we had to tell them we did not want to pay for the sandwiches which they took off the bill but only after being asked ( which is a bit poor form for a five star)
Conclusion
This hotel I love and will be going back again and again the pool is fab the gym is fab the sauna is fab the staff try the best to please you as best they can the rooms are lovely, breakfast is expensive and not worth it, drinks are not to badly priced. I never had dinner in the restaurant so I don’t know about that, It is the perfect location you are so near every thing the red light is on the door step yet you are a little walk away from it so the hotel is quite at night.
However
The standard rate for this hotel is about £375 per night I would not pay this for this hotel it is a great hotel but not that great, BUT if you can get it for less that £200 then it is money well spent. Hope this is helpful
