“Amazing!!”

Jaz Mirabel Beach

I apologise now, this will be a long one! We have just returned from a week at the Mirabel Beach hotel, wish we'd booked for 2 weeks now. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and deserves every one of it's 5 stars. As soon as you walk through the doors you are blown away by the reception area. The floors are all marble and gleaming and the staff cannot do enough for you.

The rooms are a really nice size and are kept spotless by the housekeeping staff. We had towel scultpures on our beds every day and flowers picked from the gardens for us by the lovely Mostafah (if you're lucky enough to have him as your housekeeper tell him Beccy & Louise say Hi). We paid extra for a sea view and it was well worth it. We were on a corner so we had a sea view on one side and a pool view on the other, our balcony was HUGE!!

There was plenty of choice in the restaurant and the waiters are all so friendly. The deserts are to die for, you could easily pile the pounds on here! The hotel was nowhere near full so we never had to queue and there were loads of free tables.
The hotel has maybe 20 shops that are already open and quite a lot that are not yet open, but you can get everything you need without having to leave the complex. The only problem we encountered was with the bank. The cash machine didn't work all the time we were there so we had to walk along to another hotel to use their's. The bank is open 10 - 3 so if you have travellers cheques or want to change money you can do that there.

The hotel doesn't have much in the way of entertainment in the evenings so if like us you like a bit of nightlife then definitely go to Naama bay. We're both in out 20's and spent 4 of our nights in Naama. There's a Pacha nightclub (we didn't try this though) and plenty of bars. The hotel shuttle bus costs £7.50 for 2 people return and goes 3 times a day (11am, 7pm and 9pm) and returns 4 hours later.

We were quite scared before we went as this was our first time in Egypt and we are 2 blonde 20-something females so we knew we were going to get hassled. I have to say our first day was a bit of a nightmare as we jumped straight in at the deep end and did Old Sharm by day and Naama bay by night which was quite daunting! The shop keepers all come up to you on the street trying to hassle you into their shops and some even follow you down the street shouting after you. We soon toughened up and learnt that putting your hand up and giving them a very firm 'No Thank you' does the trick (most of the time!). By the end of the week we were pro's!!

We went on a trip to Cairo by plane and a Camel ride. We booked the Camel ride through 'Varna Sharm' who have a rep in the Bedouin Bar in Naama bay in the evenings. This included about an hour of camel riding, a climb up a mountain to take photos (great views) and some bedouin tea. This cost us £12 each. We booked the Cairo trip through Kenouz tours who have an office on the main street in Naama. We had 2 fantastic guides called Hassan and Hany and there were only 3 of us on the trip. This cost us £105 each.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday and will be returning next year, although we're hoping to stay in a hotel closer to Naama next time. Mirabel Beach is about a 30min drive to Naama, but it's perfect if you're not bothered about nightlife and are happy to stay in the hotel in the evenings for a drink. All inclusive drinks are served up until 12am.
If anyone would like any more details about anything feel free to email me (bc2490@aol.com) I could talk the hind leg off a donkey about our holiday!!

“Great Hotel and holiday, no problems”

Jaz Mirabel Beach

got back from the Mirabel beach last week, i

The food wasn't amazing but the hotel was great, only about a 3rd full at all times we were there.

The jetty at the next doors hotel, they now charge for this, please don't pay them anything, if your lucky you can get on it when the guard isn't around, otherwise he'll send you back or wont let you on, he tends to walk up and down it.

However, just to the left of the jetty there is a strange light blue line in the sea where its clear for you to walk the length in the sea anyway, we did this once

Best snorkelling spot, walk past the jetty and carry on walking along the shore for about 10 minutes to the unfinished hotel you can see, its just bricks at the moment and no-where near being finished (tower group) just past it there is a bay kind of area, there are some waves but there was a lifeguard here and it was a great place to snorkel, not too deep and the sea floor was clear
bigger fish than the jetty and more types, other hotels had got taxis down just to use this spot

taxi wise, we haggled and paid 60egyption pounds, £6, for a taxi from naama bay back to the Mirabel Beach
thomsons reps were purely there first day to sell excursions, if you saw them again then your lucky

quadbiking was a good laugh, as was the waterpark - no major big flumes though but still not a bad day out
red sea cruise with thomson was ok, 3 stops, the first 2 werent amazing but the last was pretty good as for the sea, i wore old trainers first of all, but then we bought some fake oneill sea shoes from one of the hotel shops for £4 each pair, they were alot lighter and were ideal for use in the sea

some pics, copy and paste into your browser
evening entertainment is not worth looking at, have plans or go out unless you dont mind some early nights in your hotel room
Also the hotel is pretty damn big, shame they dont give you a map or tell you where everything is

bay near the tower hotel, snorkelling area:

A couple of other things
exchange rate, here I got 10.1 to the english pound, over there in the hotel banking bit near the shops they gave 10.8 to the pound
we didn't bother getting a visa at the airport and had no problems at all, we just said sinai only and they were fine with that. The only time we left the area was on a boat trip to rass muhammed park for snorkelling.

Hotel shops, prices seemed ok in these but you can still haggle and get a few pounds off, they accept any money
in the restaurant, there are two free ones either side of the steps down. We always sat in the same kind of area, so you get the same waiter each time, they get to know you and all are friendly
service seemed to be better for us that way as your waiter brings you drinks etc, we tipped on the 2nd day as our waiter made a real effort, tipped 20 egyption pounds and he was great everyday after that

WARNING:
when you get to the hotel, the tour operator will ask that you tip the bell boy who takes your case to your room for you. Now, loads of people don't have change and only have 50/100 notes, it's hard to get change from people in the hotel so try to get some smaller egyption notes before you get there or you'll struggle to tip unless you give the bell boy 50 egyption pounds, only £5, but not really worth it as he probably wont do anything else for you while your there.

“Fabulous Holiday at the Mirabel Beach”

Jaz Mirabel Beach

5 of 5 stars

13/14 found this review helpful

My husband and I Just returned 19th November, and had a fabulous time. Very clean hotel and clean and very well maintained gardens and grounds (which are being improved on a daily basis). Extremely relaxing holiday. Staff were very welcoming and did all they possibly could to make your holiday special. Rather than repeat what other reviews state (try not to anyway). Water slides in the Mirabel Park are now up and running. More shops are still to be opened. The Italian and Oriental a la carte restaurants are now open. We did go into Naama Bay twice on the hotel mini-bus £7.50 return or 75 LE (Egyptian) which was good value for money and reliable service - easy to book with the Bell Captain in Reception. Also available (although we did not try) was a limousine service (Mercedes cars) which would drop you off to your destination and pick you up (approx. price someone was given was £33.00 (English pounds) to Naama Bay and return to hotel if you fancy doing it in style. Did try local taxi to Sharks Bay (well worth a visit for snorkelling - lovely colourful fish). However, taxis are available from outside hotel gate but tend to be "clapped out old bangers" but we found our driver to be a careful driver and very friendly. Hotel Jetty has not been built yet. The entertainment is still poor (same couple every night), but this did not spoil holiday and Naama Bay is lively for a change of venue. Have a brilliant time.

“Great hotel”

I will not write a huge review, as i have to agree with pretty much everyone else has said previously.

Everything was great - our room, the cleaning service, pools, bars, amount of food and drink on offer, friendliness of the staff, facilities, beach.

The only let down i feel, was the reception staff. They often looked as if they would rather take their eyes out with a rysty spoon than attend to your queries or problems. At busy check in/out times, there is only one guy who can do this. So, you're standing there, in some semblence of a que (very English!!) one guy trying to cope and several others standing around chatting amongst themselves!! Very frustrating!!

Appart from that small gripe, we are very impressed, and are booking to return next year.

“Trevor & Tina loved it”

Jaz Mirabel Beach

5 of 5 stars
England

We stayed at the Mirabel Beach Resort for a week in the first week of October. We have both travelled all over the world within our professions (Professional body guards) and have stayed in the best hotels in the world, including the Life Apartments in Turkey, which was fantastic. We were wondering what we would get!!!
On arrival, we were shown our room and it was fantastic with great view and the most comfortable bed in the world. Great balcony overlooking the pool and beach.
We cannot complain. Food was unbelievable and very plentiful. Breakfast had a vast choice from healthy to 'fat boy.' Chocolate doughnuts were fantastic. Restaurant was very clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and above all very professional and efficient. The evening meal was superb everytime. It was served as a buffet and you could eat as much as you wanted. Lots of choice and varied from night to night. The food was to the very highest standard.
Our days were spent by the pool and even there the staff couldn't do enough. We had massages, cold fruit, cold towels. The waiters from the pool side bar were always at hand to provide whatever you wanted. Always smiling and joking. This hotel is the place for relaxation and carefree holidays. Its one of the best places Tina and i have stayed at. We could honestly not fault it in anyway. We liked it so much we are returning for one week on the 18th March 07. If you are looking for peace and quiet and the 'get away from it all,' then this is the place for you. If you want to 'chav it up' go to Naama Bay. Absolutely excellent.
Trevor & Tina.
