Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Sonesta Club. Very clean hotel, rooms good a spacious but very dark, must be to keep the rooms cool. Air conditioning could have done to be a bit cooler, but the weather was very hot.
Meals good, we found lunch better than the evening meal, but the hotel did a barbeque outside around the top pool every evening and we chose to go up there most evenings, just chicken, burgers, salad and chips but when weather hot you done really need much to eat. We ate in Naam and would recommend a restaurant named 'Onions', not far up from the taxi rank.
Good points I had a super full body exfolioation and massage for £25 well worth it, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the pools were clean, the grounds were very well kept.
One disappointment was that the all inclusive did not include wine which is my favourite tipple - so be warned if you are a wine drinker. Another was that the hotel had no inside areas to have a drink in the cool, (except a small bar which was not included in the all inclusive). All evening drinks were served around the two pools, where the heat never really dropped from about 35 degrees even at midnight, and because it was around the pool, all drinks were in plastic glasses, it seemed rather uncivilised. We needed to shower before bed just to cool down enough to sleep. We have stayed a couple of times before at the Garden Palms hotel, which had a lovely reception bar and an upstairs bar which was all air conditioned and I could drink my wine. It is advertised as you can use the Sonesta Beach hotel which is opposite, the beach is very small and cramped, you can only get food and drinks (all inclusive that is) at a very small counter near the beach and there are no chairs you have to stand around 2 wonky tables. I personally preferred the Club grounds, but cannot comments on the food or bar arrangements.
A good point for the men folk they did not demand long trousers in the dining room.
