My wife and I honeymooned in Langkawi recently and, upon the recommendation from a hotel staffer, we booked a sea kayaking and cave exploring trip with Dev. He was knowledgeable and a pleasure to travel with as we paddled through the tributaries and through the mangroves. He led the tour himself and found his guidance excellent. Stopping often to share wih us knowledge about the natural habitat; what Malyasia is doing with regard to nature conservancy; bird watching; etc. He is patient with people new to the kayaking experience and helpful with questions of history and culture and the relationships to that which we saw on the tour.

We highly recommend the sea kayaking tour along with his evening jungle walk. It was the highlight of our trip to Langkawi.

We booked on Dev's tours for the mangrove kayaking - 3 hrs in the kayak through the mangroves, followed by lunch on a floating restaurant, and a visit to a fish farm and bat cave.

The trip was well planned and very safe - we all had to wear a life jacket.

What I would say, my husband and I had never kayaked before and I think this was a distinct disadvantage to us. The two other couples in our group had done kayaking before, and were gliding away quite effortlessly, whereas we spent the majority of our time going in circles and hitting the mangroves, not a good idea with vipers sleeping on them.

To enjoy this experience, I think in my opinion, you do need to know your way about the kayaking business!

Nevertheless, a very enjoyable trip, very informative, our guide caught a King Cobra which was swimming in the water, and pointed out the vipers and wildlife.

Enjoy the trip, but remember to take the sunscreen with you - it's very hot out in the water!

We did Dev's jungletrek and night walk which were well worthwhile and memorable, but the highlight was the mangrove kayaking. Dev himself led this trip himself, and his wit, knowledge and enthusiasm, coupled with the incredible scenery made it the highlight of our short stay in Langkawi. It may be hard to accept that paddling a kayak avoiding angry looking vipers in the pouring rain is fun - but trust me it is!

There were 8 on our trip (ages ranging from 6-50). Kayaks and life jackets were good quality and the overall pace was unhurried, so anyone with reasonable fitness should enjoy. A very good quality lunch was provided and there was plenty of bottled water available throughout the trip.

Only gripe - I was told I could take my slr camera. Don't do this! Whilst waterproof bags and are fine for small cameras they are not suitable for large items as they are unsecured and are would not float if you capsized (very unlikely but not impossible). Secured unsinkable cannisters for cameras etc seems an obvious solution.

Whatever, a small camera is as essential as sun screen and insect repellent: its a very photogenic day out and I highly recommend it to all.

My friends and I joined Dev's kayaking tour and cycling tour last week. The tours lived up to the raving reviews. The 3-hour cycling tour took the us through the plantations and forests in Langkawi, where we got to see different varieties of birds and plants. The 6-hr kayaking tour was headed by Dev himself. He is a conservationist who cares so much about the nature. We kayaked through the mangrove, visited a bat cave and had lunch at a fish farm where we had a chance to feed different kinds of fish (stingray, snapper etc.).

The best thing about the tours is that the tour guides are all knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the nature and the land. Forget about the watersports, these tours are what Langkawi is about.
