I don't want to be too repetitive but this place is outstanding! We stayed here for the last three nights of our honeymoon, after getting married in Manuel Antonio. The staff is amazingly nice, attentive and they all seem to LOVE their job. The grounds are immaculate and captivating. We loved just walking around and watching the monkeys, toucans, macaws, coatis, etc in their habitats. Incredible. Our cabina, Mariposa, was very sweet. It was very clean and a bit secluded, which was nice. The outdoor shower and bath tub were amazing!
The owner was super helpful and seemed to love helping my husband figure out where the best surf was on any given day. He even arranged for a boat over to Pavones for my husband and another guest to surf. He was great.
The food was superb. Every single meal was delicious. We were never disappointed and looked forward to eating after hiking and surfing all day! I can't say enough about the chefs.
Yes, the road getting to BdC is bad but that was part of the charm for us. We liked the seclusion and character of the area. We had a rental car, which we were very glad about. The beach was quite a hike so be forewarned. There were a couple people that felt mislead about the proximity to the beaches. Matapalo is about an hour TOUGH hike and the Pacific trail can only be accessed on low tide is is a STEEP hike. We were glad we could drive to the beach in about 20 minutes.
There was plenty to do, we didn't even scratch the surface. We did a few trails and relaxed for the most part. It was truly an amazing experience. We'll be back!
