“Loved Derwent House”

Derwent House Boutique Hotel

5 of 5 stars
London, UK
Jul 29, 2008

We stayed at Derwent House at the end of our trip to South Africa for 3 days and had a great time. The hotel was in a perfect location for us and we managed to get about easily. Table Mountain is a really short drive away and there are lots and lots of restaurants a short walk away. It is a stylish and the honesty bar is a great idea. We thought the cakes at tea time were a particularly nice touch. The guest laptop was also really useful to check in etc.
However, the best thing about Derwnet were the owners Jo and Carol who were not only friendly and helpful but recommeded us some great restaurants and things to do in the short time that we had.
All in all the hotel didn't feel as such - it was like having a second home albeit a sylish one! We would definately stay there again and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Perfect service, Great value, Lovely View, Wonderful Staff”

Derwent House Boutique Hotel

Grand Haven, MI

We were a group of 13 (7 adults and 6 kids under 14) traveling from the US. We started our trip in Cape Town, staying at the Derwent House. We had great service before we even got there. The proprieters, Carol and Jo made many recommendations on tour guides, restaurants, sites to see, weather and clothing to bring. They went above and beyond to make our trip perfect. While we were there, we had great service from all their staff, a delicious cooked breakfast every morning, great views from all rooms, and the hotel is very tastefully decorated.

We felt like guests in the home of family. We would definitely recommend DH to all and we would go back in a minute. Too bad the travel time from Michigan is 34 hours!

Our group stayed 5 nights, and we had four full days in Cape Town and the surrounding area. This was just about perfect to see all the sites. Our tour guide was Eric at Hylton Ross Touring Company, he was a very knowledgeable and personable.

After Cape Town we visited The Love Botswana Mission in Maun, Botswana and Kwando Safari's in Botswana. Both experiences were incredible. We saw Victoria Falls from Zambia on our way home. They are truly spectacular. This was a wonderful trip. We can't wait to visit Africa again. We felt safe and healthy our whole trip. Enjoy the planning process and start your trip at the Derwent House, it will set the tone for a picture perfect adventure.

“"Wonderful Place"”

Derwent House Boutique Hotel

Jul 23, 2008

The first stop on our honeymoon was Cape Town and Derwent house. What a great place to start! The owners and staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, comtinually providing answers to our questions about where to eat and what to see. The room was great overlooking the pool with it's own private balcony. All mod cons in the room with a very comfortable bed and wonderful free standing bath. There is a very relaxed atmosphere to the place, with an open plan kitchen where you can help yourself to cake and port at no charge. The honesty bar located in the kitchen is also a great idea where you can help yourselves to any drink you can imagine and just mark it on a sheet to bill to your room.
The location of the hotel is great, not far from Table Mountain and on a great street with loads of restaurants that leads down to the main town.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Cape Town.

“Everyone was Right!”

Derwent House Boutique Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Philadelphia, PA
Jul 22, 2008

My husband and I read many positive reviews about the Derwent House; everything was true! The boutique hotel is tastefully decorated - comfortable furniture, interesting artwork, books, magazines, and a warm fire. Warm beds, great bathrooms, delicious breakfasts with hot and cold options. Beautiful pool. The staff was wonderfully attentive, friendly, and very helpful. Carol and Jo, the owners of the Derwent House, have created a beautiful, welcoming place in a convenient location with many good restaurants nearby. Their knowledge and terrific recommendations made our time in Cape Town an outstanding beginning to our South Africa trip!

“Absolutely lovely”

Derwent House Boutique Hotel

We had a lovely stay at Derwent House. Decor wise it's chic and interesting. Atmosphere wise, it's relaxing and welcoming.

Carol and Jo were fantastic hosts, helpful but never intrusive.

All the little touches in this hotel make it special, from the free port to the weather forecast on your pillow at night.

To top it all off, when we admired the Zebra masks on their walls and asked where we could find one, they produced one which we were able to buy!

I'd recommend this place to anyone. It's very cool and very homely all at the same time.

Go!
