“great views”

We stayed here as part of a pre-cruise package with Princess, and I must admit I was a little concerned after reading some of the comments on this site. However I must report that our experience was nothing but positive.

Check in went smoothly with pleasant friendly staff and our room on the 15th floor was great with wonderful city views. The room was spotlessly clean and looked to have been redecorated in the not too distant past.

The breakfast buffet also met our expectations with a good selection of hot and cold food available with smiley waitresses supplying all the hot drinks required. The hotel has several dining options available all of which serve good portions of tasty food, once again we found the wait staff to be friendly and helpful.

The only downside was the long wait for our bags,in fact I went and collected my own from the foyer.

Would I stay here again ? yes.

“Excellent experience overall w/ minor complaints”

Like most IC properties, the one in Buenos Aires offered an excellent experience overall. My friend and I stayed on the club level, on the 18th floor, which had an amazing view of the city, including a view of the Río de la Plata. I enjoyed the personalized service and attention. The beds were amazingly comfortable.

I disliked the pool -- it closes at 8:00pm and it's mostly useful for swimming laps rather than relaxing. The hotel also charges for internet, which seems ludicrous given the room rates and low cost of internet generally.

Finally, the hotel is located in Montserrat, which is a 10-15 min cab ride away from Palermo. This location makes it more ideal for business travelers than leisure travelers.

“Look Elsewhere. Don't Believe The Hype”

Booked this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews, hotel website and location. When I got to the room it looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The room was old, shabby, musty, and smelled like smoke (booked non-smoking). When I went back to the lobby to ask for another, non-smoking, room they said the only option was to upgrade. So, for an additional $20USD I could have a non-smoking room, oh and it looked the pictures on the website, go figure. Being repulsed by musty smoke filled rooms (and the fact that by now all other hotels in BA were sold out) I agreed, albeit bitterly. The upgraded room was clean and comfortable. It turns out that the room I thought I booked (from photo) was available for an additional $20USD. It’s clear they work hard to up-sell and as a result I felt I had been had. Other annoyances: room was not available 'till 9:00pm (they refused to move my bags, so when I got back from dinner I had to re-check in, collect my bags from my old room, move to new room and then return the key – while a hotel attendant followed me). Upon checking out I overheard people in the lobby complaining to the staff that they had just been mugged right outside the hotel, the staff seemed to care less.
For the amount of money and the options BA has I would strongly suggest you book elsewhere. The Sheraton is a MUCH better choice, as is the Esplandor. I stay in hotels about 275 nights a year and I will never stay at an InterContinental again in my life. They market themselves as a full-service styling hotel, which is absolutely false. They are nothing more then a large Holiday Inn.

“Very nice hotel”

InterContinental Hotel Buenos Aires

We stayed three nights at the Intercontinental Buenos Aires, and really enjoyed our stay. The room is nice, the bed is very comfortable, and the staff are helpful and speak excellent English as you would expect at an Intercontinental. But beware of the bottled water - $13 for 1.5 litres!

Of all the hotels we stayed at in South America, this was the only one that provided complimentary English language newspapers, and also baggage tags that are quite attractive.

There aren't a lot of shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but you are within easy walking distance of "interesting" areas including the centre of Buenos Aires and San Telmo. The hotel is also located close to the Subte (metro) which is handy for getting around.

“Another Great Stay”

For the second year in a row my husband and I took a trip down to BA and stayed at the InterContinental. At check in we upgraded to the club level. Where we enjoyed breath taking views of the city for breakfast and enjoyed evening cocktails and snacks before dinner.
The Sunday Brunch is a must try, what a great variety of foods, they have everything.
Staff is friendly and very personable and it's a first class stay!!
