“A Nice Hotel”

NH Jousten

The NH Jousten was a very friendly place to stay although the locaiton is not great for tourists. We had a nice corner room with many amenities. The staff was very helpful although the front desk clerk is a bit of a sourpuss! We did get accosted by pickpockets outside the hotel in broad daylight. They sprayed some goo on us and made us to think that it was bird excrement. Their trick did not succeed though!

“Nice location, and efficient services but nothing more than this”

NH Jousten

I booked this hotel due to various comments about the location. In fact this hotel is strategically located at walking distance to the most visited places in Buenos Aires: two blocks from Casa Rosada, about 400 mts far from Puerto Madero, 3 blocks from Calle Florida, near to the 9th July Avenue...

However I was in honneymoon, in this aspect the hotel became very "average" and disappointed me. The service works, but is not personal as I wish... the room is nice, but not charming or romantic... Even the build is more beautiful in the photos than live.

In other words, if you're looking for a non-fancy stay, in a well located hotel, but no-frills, with an efficient (but not properly pleasant) service go to NH Jousten.

“Good location, Extremely clean, Decent rooms, Brilliant breakfast”

We stayed here in November 2005 for 8 nights and would stay here again. The room we stayed in is more typical of what you see in Europe: two single beds (not the two doubles or king that are commonplace in Canada or the US). The mattresses were comfortable and bedding was always clean. What I appreciated were the hardwood floors in the room. As I have severe allergies to various pollens, dust mites, etc., I can sometimes develop reactions in carpeted hotel rooms. The bathroom was clean, bright, and spacious and was always clean. The best feature of the hotel was the buffet breakfast. I've stayed at comparable hotels in Europe and have to concede that this breakfast was among the best I've ever seen; great selection, fresh fruits, hot section, etc. The front desk staff were professional but I wouldn't describe them as outwardly friendly. Two computers were available in the front desk area for customer internet use; this was helpful.

Stayed here last year. Although i booked my stay through Expedia, the hotel did not have our reservation. Showed them my printed out itinerary and they quickly set me up. The room was inititally two single beds but they moved me the next night into a large room with a huge bed. Overall very clean, close to the subway, and the staff was very hospitable and friendly.

They have WONDERFUL flan with dulce de leche - order it via room service.

“Perfectly fine, but nothing special”

I agree with the reviewer from Boston; the Jousten is a perfectly decent place to stay in Buenos Aires but is nothing unique or special. I certainly wouldn't describe it as a luxury hotel. It's part of the Spanish NH chain of hotels, which are about the same: a safe, affordable bet, but nothing special.

The hotel: The Jousten is in a good location, within easy walking distance of all the sights of central BA. There is also a subway station right in front of the hotel. (The "Subte" is safe, efficient, and very cheap, but taxis are also plentiful and inexpensive in BA.) The area around the hotel is not very residential and not so scenic. The restaurants at Puerto Madero are within less than 10 minutes walking distance. There are two computers for internet access in the lobby and the hotel is also equipped with free wi-fi. This is an old hotel that was refurbished, but it already looked a little worn; wear and tear on the carpets, a few scratches on the furniture, etc.

The room: I had a room on the 6th floor facing the street. The room was comfortable and quiet; no problems with the traffic noise outside. The furnishings were comfortable if not luxurious. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked very well.

Overall, a good place to stay while you are sightseeing downtown; then you should move to a different neighborhood like Palermo Soho to try out another side of BA.
