“Good hotel”

NH Latino

I had no previous experience with the NH chain of hotels, and I was impressed. While the NH Latino is probably more business oriented than anything, it is in a great location (walking distance from many different "must sees"), and as a tourist I had a very nice stay. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and modern, and the bathrooms are nice (great toiletries!). The staff is fairly friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast is one of the best I've seen in South America. I also stayed at the NH City at another point in my trip, which is a bigger and fancier, but I was happy at both places and would return to either of them.

“Convenient Location”

NH Latino

My wife, my 22 year-old daughter, and I stayed at the NH Latino in July. They gave us three single beds. Everything was very clean.

The bathroom toiletries were more generous than usual, and included a razor/shaving cream, plus a toothbrush/toothpaste.

The breakfast was very pleasant, and in a very quiet dining room. Staff was attentive and smiling.

Internet access was by two machines in the lobby, with a sign limiting usage to 20 minutes. But useage was free, and there were plenty of times when no one was waiting.

It is a quick, two block walk to shopping and the Obelisk. I thought this place was very conveniently located, which is why so many business people were staying there. Security guards were in the lobby at all times, by the way -- making the place seem very safe.

It seemed like every place we wanted to go was only a USD $3 taxi ride.

“A great find in a busy city”

I am a travel agent who brought a small group to this hotel for 2 nights prior to catching a cruise. It was in a great location, just a few blocks from the pedestrian shopping street, Florida. Rooms were clean and very comfortable and we did not find them noisy at all. Buffet breakfast was very good and plentiful. There were 2 computers in the lobby where you could use the internet for free and this was great. The small lobby bar was a nice place for the group to get together at the end of the day. Double rate was $75 US/nt plus tax including breakfast and I would use this hotel again when in Buenos Aires. Taxis were available and very cheap to get us to anywhere we wanted to go.

“great value, great rooms, great breakfast, great staff!”

If you are looking for a good value but still want a classy place, NH Latino is your hotel! We were able to get rooms at $88 USD, which is a fantastic deal, even for Buenos Aires, in my opinion. The rooms can be more expensive, however.

The lobby is nice, with a small bar off to the side which closes early by BsAs standards (11 pm or midnight). There are 2 internet computers available in the lobby.

The staff was always very helpful. They spoke some English, but after hours you're better off in Spanish. They accomodated late check outs, luggage storage, etc., with no problems. Friendly for the most part, but so was almost everyone in Argentina. One slip: the window cleaner outside our window at 8 am on a Saturday morning.

The rooms are very nice. I don't stay at fancy-schmancy hotels, so this was nicer than most places I've been at. Hardwood floors and a fair amount of modernist wood decor. The bed was a king and comfortably firm.

Food: a very nice morning breakfast buffet. Fresh-squeezed juice (which is standard in Argentina) along with some pastries, baked goods, eggs, meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereals, etc. We also ordered room service (hint: room service in Argentina is an absolute steal) and were very pleased with the salad, not to mention the service.

Location: this is the one area that will not be for everyone. As another reviewer wrote, it is a loud, congested area. The hotel does face a very busy street corner, and you may need to wear earplugs (I often do anyway, so it didn't impact me). On the other hand, keep in mind that BsAs was recently voted the 4th loudest city in the entire world, so unless you want to get out of the central area (Retiro, Congresso, Microcentro, etc), your hotel will be exposed to some noises. The area is safe, but you're definitely 'in the city' here, and there is a fair amount of trash, broken sidewalks, etc., on the nearby side streets, as is typical for BsAs unless you are in Puerto Madero or a few other select areas. Note that I never felt unsafe near the hotel, but I have a pretty high threshold for that kind of stuff.

In summary, if you can get a room here for under $100 USD per night for 2 people with breakfast, and you want to be IN the city where all the action is, you'll be happy at the NH Latino. On the other hand, if you want a private Zen sanctuary and don't want to be too close to the dirt, the noise, and the people of BsAs, and in particular if you'd rather not see the real effects a 70% currency devaluation can have on a country, you'd be better off in Puerto Madero where it feels like you're in Santa Monica or Miami or Houston.

“great hotel at a great price”

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the NH Latino with our 16yo daughter. Great rooms and very friendly staff. The location is close to Florida & LaValle Street (shopping area). The breakfast buffet was good, housekeeping excellent, and nearby restaurants were nice. Try Las Lilas restaurant while in BA. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
