“a perfect day in the country”

We recently spent a perfect day at Estancia Los Dos Hermanos. After several exhausting days touring Buenos Aires, we were so happy to spend a relaxing day and night at the estancia. We were picked up by a private car at our B & B in Buenos Aires and driven (about an hour) to the estancia. There, we were warmly greeted by Ana and shown to our little adobe cabin where we would spend the night. After enjoying drinks and freshly made empanadas we were shown to our horses. Each horse was chosen for the guests based on riding experience--from beginner to more experienced. We rode on the estancia property for about 2 hours and returned for a huge lunch. The lunch table was set up under the trees and we were served various courses including several cuts of beef. All of the guests agreed that it was the best beef in Argentina! Also available was wine and beer as well as a fabulous dessert. After a brief siesta we were back in the saddle again! This time we rode off the property and were gone about 2 hours. When we returned we were served coffee, tea, and homemade donuts. At this time, many of the guests departed, but since we were spending the night, we enjoyed a walk and some hammock time. Dinner was served in the main lodge which was pasta, fresh fruit, wine, beer. When we returned to our cabin, a fire had been started for us. We were tired after our long day of riding but hated to fall asleep so sat by the fire in our cozy house. This day was the highlight of our Argentina vacation.

We spent one day and night at Estancia los Dos Hermanos and we had a wonderful time. Like the previous reviewer, were the only guests they had that day, so my wife and I went riding with Bonnie as our personal guide. Bonnie's pretty new to Dos Hermanos, but not to horses. She's spent years riding and training polo ponies, and she was a great teacher and guide.

After a few hours of riding, we sat down with Bonnie and ranch co-owner Pancho for the best empanadas we ate in Argentina, as well as a delcious steak lunch. We took an afternoon siesta in hammocks under a shade tree and then rode some more in the afternoon. We spent the night at the ranch, where we enjoyed an delicious dinner with great wine. Not only do I highly recommend a riding visit to this estancia, but I suggest doing it with an overnight stay.

My friend and her mom and I recently spent three weeks in Argentina. The last leg of our trip was in B.A. After spending the previous two weeks in various countryside settings throughout Argentina, we were needing an outdoors fix again after almost a week in the city. Of course we were a bit nervous about the place, as we were going solely on reviews--but they were mostly all good. Also, I had some trouble at one point in reaching Ana via email, but that was due to what we learned is the nature of using the Internet sometimes in Argentina. It just goes out...Anyhow, I called instead and all was confirmed. A car comes to pick you up and then takes you to the ranch. We went on the gaucho's day off, so our riding experience was with the second hand man, Alejandro. We had a great time riding, but the day was made even better by the fact that the simple food was actually some of the best we had in all our travels: homemade empanadas and good, good steaks, served sizzling and also by the fact that the host family was so much fun to hang out with. We went on a day where we were the only people riding...the previous day they had a large group. So after our first ride when we returned to eat, Ana and Pancho's children and their friends arrived to eat as well and visit. They sat down with us and we passed the time talking with all of them. Really an awesome time. The scenery was beautiful and peaceful, but I have to say that it was the company and the ease of the people at the place that I think made it special...we didn't just feel like tourists, we felt like guests. Highly recommended. I'd love to return to this place.

“Fantastic Day”

Estancia Los Dos Hermanos

Apr 10, 2008

Decided on this day trip from the hustle of Buenos Aires purely on the strength of the tripadvisor reviews and was a bit apprehensive. However, there was nothing to worry about as this was a fantastic day - very relaxed and the family and staff really put themselves out and made us feel very welcome. The food was also fantastic.

I had a wonderful day at Estancia Los Dos Hermanos back in February this year. I was alone so I figured it was going to be a lot more difficult to get out of the city to go riding so I emailed Ana who responded promptly and helpfully. I managed to share a taxi with two others out to the ranch which made it affordable for me. We were met with open arms by the family members and staff and everybody was so genuinely helpful and hospitable I felt right at home. The horses were obviously well looked after and I was given a lovely mare called Nochera to ride, I have done a lot of riding and she suited me very well. I had plenty of chances to gallop off with Ali while the less confident riders came along behind. Lunch consisted of the best steak that I tried on our whole trip plus a table full of salads, bread etc and plenty of wine, juice, all you could dream of. Some of us had a swim in the pool and some of us slept in the hammocks in the hot part of the afternoon. It was great to be able to chat to everybody about life in Argentina, and ask all those questions youd been wondering about. Ana and her family and her staff are doing an amazing job out here of introducing people to life on an estancia, I thoroughly recommend it to everyone, and I will definitly return next time I'm in Buenos Aires.
