We have never ridden horses so were somewhat reluctant but turns out that most other people who came on our day were equally inexperienced - it really doesnt matter as the horses here as so well trained that you have nothing to fear! The Estancia is very picturesque and is a great escape from BA - we had excellent weather and the light on the fields and trees was very beautiful. Riding was not really the highlight for me (v sore afterwards!) but im so glad we went as it was just great to be out in the countryside seeing another part of Argentinian life. Our horse guide Alexandro was extremely knowledgeable and helpful - and best of all was the lunch - 3 courses of fantastic bbq meat! I think out of the (many) meals we had in Argentina this was right up there - i know food tastes better outside but it was also due to the delicious meat and the great outdoor bbq - very succulent and smoky - YUM!!!! we paid $135US which included a days riding (about 3 hours split over 2 1.5 hr sessions), lunch, dinner (also yummy!), accomodation (nice - quaint - self contained house - open fire, rustic furnishings - not 5 star but really comfortable and felt quite authentically gaucho rather than a tourist version (I could be completely off here and real gauchos might scoff but the whole place felt like the real mccoy), and breakfast (typical forgettable argenitian one - but you will still be full from dinner). The driver was extra - $58USD each way from BA to Estancia. Would recommend including an overnight stay (one is plenty unless you are really into horseriding) as it was lovely to be there at sunset/
sunrise with the animals/peace and quite. It was a wonderful day - beautifully relaxing countryside and good to be doing something different on holiday (makes a change from pounding the streets to look at tourist attractions/find the next great meal), Highly recommended!
