Stayed here for one night on May 31st. Got an extremely good rate on hotels.com for $109, which made me rate this an excellent stay. Didn't get to enjoy too many of the property amenities, but the staff were courteous and professional. The two-room suite was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed in building 27, which was about 300 yards from the registration desk. You do need a map to get around this place. I never got to enjoy the large pool area, but the smaller pool behind registration was quiet, clean, and the poolside food offerings were very tasty. I played a round of golf at Lookout Mountain which is attached to the hotel property. If you book room and golf together, the round of golf only cost $50, which was a bargain for the upscale course. I will definitely stay at this hotel again on my future visits to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

I was here for five nights in early June attending a conference staying in two different rooms in the main building (first two nights by myself with a king bed and the remaining nights sharing a room with two double beds). I also visited the room of other colleagues in some of the other buildings. Pretty much identical layout for all standard rooms: living room (which included a sleeper sofa). short passage (with toilet/shower on one side and sink on the other) through to the bedroom. There are doors on either end of the passage so privacy can be had. As a standard room setup, this is great! Very comfortable beds. Flat panel TVs in both living room and bedroom. Wired internet in room. Lots of space. Good housekeeping.

First, the positives. As other have commented, it is a beautiful location. There are pools throughout the property (so one never far away) and the main pool complex is enjoyable (although describing it as a water 'park' is a bit much...the highly advertised slide is a fun (but short) experience). The views from Different Point of View are stunning. I didn't eat there, but drinks on the terrace at night were very enjoyable. The grounds are immaculate. The staff are very friendly and a problem with our billing was fixed quickly by reception. When I called housekeeping about a missing bottle opener, staff brought the replacement within a couple minutes. They are also flexible about allowing you to stay after official checkout.

As a meeting venue, it is fantastic. Event catering was good, the meeting rooms were configurable for different sizes of events and the AV setup was well-handled. The conference center is next to the main building, so very convenient for those staying in the main building.

Now, the negatives. It is pretty isolated. The hotel does provide a shuttle (for a fee) to get to the local shopping mall, but you really need a car to get to anything outside of the resort. Without a car you are a willing hostage. Internet is $12/day (although you can print out boarding passes for free and they do offer free printing in the business center from your own laptop). As for the food, I only ate at the Cantina (the Mexican restaurant in the main building overlooking the family pool). it was OK but not great and I could taste no alcohol in my drinks (and IMO was overpriced for what you got).

As others have noted, it is fairly spread out/hilly and for those with mobility issues, it can be a challenge. However, the free shuttle service is excellent (one of my colleagues was staying up the hill and the shuttle appeared 3 minutes after she placed the call) and the staff encourage use of the service. The layout is fairly confusing. There are a number of footpaths/bridges that provide shortcuts (so that guests don't have to walk in the roads) but they're not obvious. Again, staff are very good about telling you about them, but I think the signage to these paths could use some improvement. Signage for drivers was very good.

I'm not a golfer, but friends that are commented on the great course and facilities available.

“Lovely resort, very nice staff”

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of May. The resort was lovely and really well kept, there were loads of pools dotted around (the "Presidential" pool is worth the walk, very quiet and secluded) and a few restaurants & bars to choose from. We were orginally allocated a room on the ground floor but I asked (at check-in) to be moved to a higher floor which was happily done for me. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the bed was extremely comfortable! There was a member of staff called Gabriel on the front desk who was extremely helpful, giving us tips for things to do in the local area (Frank Lloyd Wright's house is recommeded) and also allowing us to use our room until late afternoon on the day we checked out. All in all the service was brilliant and resort lovely. It is quite spread out though so less abled people may find it a bit of a challenge getting around in the heat.

“amazing staff...beautiful resort”

This is an absolutely gorgeous resort. Things are a bit spread out over a few hills creating great views, but may be troublesome for those who have difficulties getting around. Several small pools and one large area were fantastic. Fitness room was small but sufficient.
The rooms were nice sized (we had a suite with a king sized bed and pull-out sofa for 3 adult women--all 3 were extremely comfortable) and very clean and well kept.
The absolute standout though was the staff. They went above and beyond at all times and cannot possibly praise them enough. For instance, we had a light bulb in our room that appeared to be wired incorrectly (burning smell) and within minutes of calling the desk, we had a gentleman from maintenance at our door. He quickly organized a room change for us and even went so far as to help us re-pack. Additionally, we were given a $50 credit for our inconvenience. Similarly, we had a waitress at the resturant propping open emergency exits when the air conditioning wasn't working to its full function and again, recieving our drinks for free for what we considered a small inconvenience.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to families (great waterpark/pool and spacious rooms), and adults looking for a comfortable relaxing trip (private adult only pools and quiet, spread-out rooms).

“Great Stay at a Great Resort”

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort

This resort is often known as a convention hotel. Stayed here for pleasure and enjoyed it very much. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice that all are two bedroom suites. Resort was built in 1982 and has been maintained very well.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Pointe in Time is good for breakfast. And a Different Point of View is on just outstanding. Dinner is 5star and the lounge has one of the most amazing terraces I have ever seen.

The pools are great and if you don't like the sound of happy children, you can retreat to one of the smaller ones located throughout the resort.

The resort has cliffs in the title, so you should expect to walk up-hill at times. There is a shuttle service that will talke you around.

Overall, I was extremely pleased with my stay.
