“Smelly and Nasty Do not stay here”

Best Western Hollywood Hills Hotel

Halifax UK
Feb 2, 2008

We stayed at this hotel on 23/01/08 for 5 nights. The only reason we didn't check out was that we had prepaid and would have lost the full amount.

When we arrived we were greeted in reception by a cockroach and the staff were just as pleasant!! However it would be fair to say we didn't see any cockroaches in our room.

The reception and corridors smelt like drains and the lift was like a service elevator that had seen better days. We were upgraded!! to a large room on the 4th floor, however the traffic noise 24/7 from the nearby freeway made sleep virtually impossible.

The shower took 5 minutes to warm up and housekeeping left much to be desired leaving bins full after the room had been serviced. The only positive remark we can make is that we had complimentary wireless internet in the room and would recommend you use it to find another hotel if you have been unfortunate enough to have already checked into this one!!

The all american diner downstairs ajoining hotel serves good food and unsurprisingly is not owned by the hotel.

“Cockroaches and no Maid Service”

We booked this hotel on hotwire because of the great rate of $100 a night In West Hollywood area. The room was large with a kitchen however the kitchen had cockroaches and both beadspreads and pillow cases had green and brown stains. After we spoke with the front desk they had no idea what to do until the manager came in the next day. Meanwhile construction was going on outside our window at 6 am and the tv didn't work. All the channels were fuzzy but one. To top off our three day stay in LA we never received maid service. We only had three towels and all our our mini trash cans were over flowing. What a dump!!

“Great except for the housekeeping”

Best Western Hollywood Hills Hotel

Jan 10, 2008

The hotel was a little creepy outside but the room was huge including a large flat-screen tv, coffee pot, fridge, and microwave. The bathroom was amazing - modern and snazzy with a 2 person granite shower with multiple showerheads. On arrival we found leftover beer in the refrigerator. The 2nd day the coffee packets and cups were not replaced. When we were checking all the drawers before checking out we found someone else's clothes in a drawer. That was about the same time we realized that the wet spot on the closet carpeting was actually from water dripping from the ceiling (somehow missing our clothes) and not from our wet bathing suits like we had thought. The adjoining dinner was convenient but the breakfasts were greasy and awful.

“Pleasantly Suprised”

Booked the room through visitcalifornia.com and got an amazing rate of $85 for a double queen room. Having never been to Hollywood I was a little nervous about the neighborhood - it was a little shady, we wouldn't have walked the one mile to Hollywood and Highland, but felt safe inside the hotel. When we got to the room there were "oohs" and "ahhs" all around - it was great!!! The room smelled and looked very clean, the room was spacious, and the bathroom was beautiful. For a hotel that accepts pets I was pleasantly suprised at how clean and wonderful it was. Only complaints would be that we drove right past the hotel driving in from the east in the dark, the big Best Western sign was on the western side of the building; our neighbors were noisy, but you'll get that anywhere; and half of the room's power was out in the morning (good thing we set our cell phones as alarms because the clock was one of the things that lost power). We only stayed one night, we were barely checked in for 12 hours, but I would definitely stay there again.

“Worth every dollar, the perfect stay for my first time in LA”

Best Western Hollywood Hills Hotel

Jan 3, 2008

After weeks of reading reviews in this website, my gf and I decide to book Bestwestern Hollywood Hills. And we were very lucky!. The hotel was great, the room was huge, everything was very clean with housekeeeping everyday. Before, i was afraid because some people said bad things about the hotel, but the truth is this Hotel made my LA experience even more happier. The bulding look like new inside, i think it has been renovated lately. The recepcion, even I really dont have many contact with them, was very polite and nice when I ask for something. They charged me the exact amoung I booked in Priceonline europe plus this annoying USA tax. (Be aware everything in USA get a 18% tax after the price you see).
Oh and more thing! they have a little dinner next door, It was great the food was incredible, the whole style of the dinner is very LA very American i loved it. I got also the chance to see a celebrity taking breakfast there!!! I was so exiting, I saw Grant Show from Melrose Place... :) He sat just in front of me!!. Apparentaly the dinner is very popular with celebrities in the area: Hollywood hills.
Just one thing, please go with car, the distances in LA are huge, we didnt get a car, so we lost a lot of time waiting for buses that pass every 30 minutes, and to be honest the hotel doesn't have many commerce around so you have to walk or take a bus to The Kodak theather area, which will take you around 20 min. After a few day we discovered that many buses actually took us almost in front of the hotel, so it wasn't too annoying.
In resume I love this hotel, great experience, great holidays and i will definately be back again in 2008.
LA is the best!!
