I had some bussiness at the VNY airport, so I've decided to stay somewhere close. The Flyaway bus ($4) took me from LAX to Van Nuys Terminal. Originally I'd planned to walk to the hotel, which is some 300 - 400 meters away, but it was raining. I had called their shuttle and it promptly arrived. The frontdesk was nice and corteous eventhough I was paying hell of a bargain ($85) through hotelsrus. Usual rate is something about $160-$180. As everyhing there is aviation related , you won't receive a card but passport to your room.
My room was on the ground floor. It was OK, everything worked well, wifi internet was a breeze. The only big disappointment was the sound insulation between the rooms which is nonexistent. I could clearly hear people talking. Pack a pair of ear plugs.
But overall this was a good place to stay, lot of guests at the breakfast. They were keen to store my luggage after checkout and of course they handed me a baggage claim ticket.
I would definitely stay again.
