I stayed at the Fort Wildreness in one of the cabins with a group of my friends. It was four 20 somethings all staying together for a long weekend. We didn't see the need to spend the extra money on a golf cart because everything was easy to walk to, though I would understand the need for one in the summer months when it gets too hot to even walk off the porch. The buses ran effieciently and we never waited more than a few minutes for them. Our cabin was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Check in took no time at all and we even had a clerk that was in training and everything still went smoothly! The only problem we ran into was that the hair dryer stopped working but less than a half hour after we called and told them about it, they were there to fix it and even brought us a back up incase the other gave out again (which it didnt.) The price is a bit much but worth it for the privacy and space. You really feel like you're on you own. Overall a fantastic place to stay and would go back anytime!

“Not Disney Like”

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Our cabin was very dirty....I could write letters in the dust. The cabins and resort are not updated. Plugs did not work in the bathroom. The door to the bathroom had to be forced open...they did fix that while we were there. Takes 2 times as long to get to the parks from this resort as the other resorts. You have to take a bus to get to a boat or another bus to get to other resorts. We gave up too long of a wait to get there and drove the rest of the time. The only place to eat at this resort was not good and I paid $80.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Not what you expect out of Disney. We will never go back to any Disney resort they are too overpriced. We have stayed off site before and it was nicer and a 3rd of the cost. Disney did send a survey to fill out online and I called the front desk to make known all of the problems and all they said was I'm sorry at front desk and NO response from survey. Don't waste your money on going to this resort. Still had fun at the parks, we just won't go back to the resorts ever again.

Great camping accomodations, pet friendly in the campsite w/kennels available for the day & night if needed. The Chip & Dale campfire show was great. The floating light show from the beach was fun. Campfire food prices were high but you can bring your own & roast marshmellows. General store prices were high as well. The comfort stations were fabulous and our 5th wheel fit just fine in the spot we were in (the 500 loop) the loop is within walking distance to everthing. You don't need a cart to get around but I do recommend bringing bikes. They also have a dog park there. Transportation by boat between the Magic Kingdom & campsite is excellent. Boat to the monorail to Epcot was great to, no need to drive any where.

“Great Stay”

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Jun 12, 2008

What a wonderful place. Myself, my husband, son, daughter-in-law and grandaughter (nearly four years) stayed for one week at the Wilderness Resort.

Our accommdation was comfortable and clean, the pull down bed was a little small but we managed.

The outside space was great. The pools were never too busy, the trading posts managed to provide essentials and it was only a short drive to the local supermarket if you need more supplies.

The buses were great - air conditioned, ran frequently and made our stay more relaxing as there was less driving involved.

The jewel in the crown for us was the boat over tto the Magic Kingdom a great way to travel and so convenient. Our grandaughter was bowled over by it all and we will certainly come again.

The other facility worth a mention was the great laundry. It was clean, equipment easy to use and cheap.

We reserved for 2 nights in Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and I found good and bad things:

Good:

Wonderful place, you are in direct contact with nature. You can see deers at night and rabits during the day. You can listen to the birds songs everywhere.
The cabin was very cozy, clean and in some way confortable.

Staff very helpfull and friendly.

It is a very quiet place and very safe.

The Meadows Trading Post is like a little market, where you can find a lot of things for your cabin, (food, charcoal, gas tans refils, souveniers, etc)

For a family of 6, it is the perfect place to stay everybody together expending less money.

Nice decoration of the cabins,

Bad:

The Check-In at 3:05 p.m was extremely slow. We waited almost 1 hour for check-in. As this happened the first day I opened a Credit Card garanteee for the Express Check Out.

You really need a Golf Cart to move inside the Resort. There is not parking in any place (Only in the Fron t Desk Area). We could not even go to the Pioneers Hall, where is the best Restaurant.
The don;t have enough golf carts and when you go to rent them they say that you must have a Resercation in advance, but nobody told us that the amout of Golf Cart would be limited.

There is not parking in almost any place.

You waste a lot of time waiton for the buses to move from one place to the other one and are a little complicated to figured out the routes.

No snack bars, restaurant or Cafeterias arounf the swiming pool.... Not even towels for the swimming pool.

Very inconvenient the bus transportation system to the parks. You can expend hours in that process. Nothing to do with Universal Studios.
