“Not child friendly and a ghost town.”

Monumental Hotel Orlando

Aug 28, 2008

This hotel has changed it's name to The Monumental. Be aware if you are trying to find it as it has no signage. We went round in circles trying to find it. The hotel staff are unhelpfull, and at times rude. If you find anyone that is.the place is like a ghost town. It is very dated, and could do with a massive makeover. We were told it was a business hotel, so don't expect them to be child friendly. food is very expensive, of poor quality, cold and slow. We had to have breakfast there twice as Hurrican Fay was around. Didn't get much info on what they would do if it hit the hotel, which was very likely. So had to watch news and decide for ourselves. There are no laundery services, and their machines don't work. Due to name change, Yes I know figure that one out. If you are going with young children, which we did, both under 5 DON'T. It's not catered for them. We had a great time outside of the hotel, but we only used the hotel to sleep and shower. when we were not in the parks we went to the malls, as there is nothing to do in the hotel. In fact the last few days of our stay we were bored, as the weather was bad, due to hurrican, Will not be going back there EVER.

“Over-rated and in transition!”

Monumental Hotel Orlando

Aug 5, 2008

I booked this hotel through Hotwire as I was looking for a 4 star resort. Four stars is a completely inaccurate description of this property. The pool is lovely, however, there are few amenities. There were not towels poolside and we got an attitude when we inquired for some. My husband went to the lobby early this morning for a cup of coffee and was actually charged almost $5.00. Since when does a 4-star charge for coffee? The staff was rude whenever we inquired about anything pertaining to the Orlando area. Also, be aware....this is no longer Crowne Plaza. As of July 31, it was sold to another property. They are in transition and simply do not care about customer service. And to top it all off. HOTWIRE CHARGED US $128/NIGHT. THEY ARE CHARGING $103/NIGHT AS OF TODAY, AUGUST 3, 2008. Stay at the Hyatt Place....it's clean, the staff is great, and you get a great bang for your buck!

    • Disliked — It was over-rated and did not live up to a 4 star resort.

“Yep, I'll go there again!”

We got a good deal on this room, a last minute Hotwire thing. It lived up to the other reviews... my main concern when I stay somewhere is the cleanliness and the SMELL (I can't stand smelly places, whether perfumey or stinky). Anyway, this place was very clean, and had only clean smells (yeah!). The fitness room is small but adquate (more than basic hotels), the pool was nice. It is close to I-Drive and Universal, and generally right in the center of Orlando. We will definitely stay here again, and I say go for it!

“A little too isolated for me”

Monumental Hotel Orlando

Apr 30, 2008

I stayed here for a workshop. The location is pretty isolated and if you don't have a car ( I didn't) there really isn't anything to walk to. I did walk to an outlet mall, but it was well over a mile and no sidewalks so for some, that might be too much of a trek. Nice mall, though. The staff was very nice but the restaurant (very tiny) has very slow service (without a car you're sort of stuck there) and I was always the only one in there. The rooms were great, the pool was very nice and heated to a very comfortable temperature. Cab fare to the airport was $45, plus tip, but a rental was even more than that for my duration. All in all, it was a nice hotel, but I won't be returning. I need to be a little closer to action so if I get bored, I can go explore.

“Good quality for the price”

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza Resort for 2 nights, would definitely recommend the hotel, very clean, front desk staff were superb and the rate was very good.

One tip, if you are going to have breakfast there allow plenty of time, whilst the quality of food is good the service is a little slow.
