Lets get one thing clear right from the start. I have never even watched a whole baseball game before let alone been at a stadium. Heck, I'd never even been to a professional sporting event before.
For my birthday, we originally were going to go to Chicago to go to the King Tut exhibit at the Field Museum. On the way, dad surprised me by saying we were going to try and get tickets to the Cubs/White Sox city rivalry game....try getting those the same day. Well we got the tickets...for about 120 extra bucks ($180 for $64 dollar seats).
The whole reason I wanted to see the game was because (even though I don't like the Cubs) futre HOF pitcher Greg Maddux was on the mound. I've wanted to see him pitch for years and thought it was a great opportunity.
Since I collect autographs, the first thing I did was go down to the vistor side to try and get a few. Unfortuneately, I didn't though many people did and it was relatively easy. All you had to do was go to the short wall right along the 3rd base line and wait (get there as soon as the gates open is my advice).
The seats were great (10th row club level right beside home plate on the vistors side). The only thing was they were a lil close together (I know they are trying to fit everyone they can in there but come on some leg room would be nice).
The only bad thing was...well kinda bad was me being relatively young I've never seen anyone drink so much. The people beside me had to have atleast 10 beers in less than 3 hrs. The game was pretty good until a relief pitcher cost the Cubs the game.....friendliest field...yah right...Cubs fans started tossing cups, hats, wrappers, anything they could get their hands on down on the field. It took 10 minutes probably before they could start playing again.
The food was great. Nothing beats....6 all beef hot dogs on a hot day. Of course, being a stadium, things where expensive. I think about $3 dollars for a hot dog.
When the game was over, then the real "fun" started. 40,000 People trying to get out of a place at once is not good. Especially when buses are blocking off the entire block outside of Wrigley cramming a bunch of drunk rivals in a small area. We finally managed to get out (after being spit and cursed at) and decided (wrongly) to try and walk to the W Hotel - City Center....nothing beats a 2 1/2-3 hr walk ha ha...We got to see a lot of the city though....Chinese neighborhoods....Italian neighborhoods...gay neighborhoods....oh and a possible chop shop. All in all, a great day!
