“Ideally situated”

Hampton Inn and Suites Chicago - Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Liverpool
Aug 19, 2008

We visited the hotel on 14th Aug - 18th Aug 2008. We were in room 1206 and we can honestly say that it was a nice hotel. We didn't hear any noise from a fire station which was close by. The staff were courteous and the breakfast adequate. We were hardly disturbed by any noise from the fire station. But hey what do you expect if you pick a hotel downtown. Michigan Avenue was within a couple of minutes walk, with Navy Pier only 20mins walk. A good central location to stay and if I returned to Chicago somewhere I would consider again.

We live in paradise (Hawaii) but decided to get married on 8/8/08 in the Windy City. However, it wasn't windy; we were told the we just missed a huge tunder storm the week before. But Chicago was good to us and the day was absolutely gorgeous!

The Hampton Inn & Suties Downtown Chicago was perfect.! Great location. Great staff. Great FREE breakfast. Room was more than ample. For the price - one can't go wrong.

We would recommend it in a minute. Thanks Chicago, for what is sure to be a memorable wedding.

“Sreet Noise Is A Problem”

Hampton Inn and Suites Chicago - Downtown

3 of 5 stars
Albany, NY
Aug 15, 2008

I agree with many of the other posters. The hotel is very nice, and the staff tries to be very accommodating, but one feature over which they have no control is the noise--not only from the fire station right across the street, but the general street noise. The latter may be a problem in many Chicago hotels that are adjacent to a major street, but it is certainly a problem here, accentuated by the fire station. We had to leave the hotel, and they were very pleasant and understanding of that. If this is ok for you, then a good point of their location is their proximity to Lou Malnoti, a Chicago icon for deep dish pizza--not just for tourists, but for locals. It is delicious, famous for their corn meal crust; located a short walk away from the hotel.

“GREAT location, beware of fire station”

Hampton Inn and Suites Chicago - Downtown

We live in the suburbs of Chicago and decided to take a "family vacation weekend" in the city. As with most weekends anywhere, especially in Chicago, it can be hit or miss on finding a nice, last minute hotel room to accommodate a family. Fortunately, Hampton Suites had a suite available.

We were pleasantly surprised with the suite and amenities - full kitchen, spacious enough to accomodate a family of 4, indoor pool, free continental breakfast and extremely clean. The staff were top-notch and professional. If you are looking for a hotel centralized in the Near North area of the city, the location is as good as any.

Unfortunately, the BIG drawback that everyone needs to take into consideration is the hotel's proximity to the fire station. The station is literally 50 steps from the lobby of the hotel. Our kids are two of the soundest sleepers this side of the moon. They were both awakened at various times throughout the night. It should be noted that this fire station is one of the most active in the entire city of Chicago, which doesn't lend itself to quiet, uninterrupted sleep. Our best recommendation is to ask for a hotel room on the southeast portion of the hotel as the fire station sits across the street from the northwest corner of the hotel.

“beware of the firehall!”

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hampton Inn. The suite was very large and roomy. Location handy to everything. Staff were courteous and helpful. Continental breakfast the usual. The only con was that we were located across from a firehall. This was very annoying and I'm a sound sleeper! I asked to be moved to a room further away from the firehall but nothing was available. My experience leads me to not recommend this hotel unless you bring ear plugs!
