I booked a room as place to sleep for my wife and I on an overnight layover returning from Barbados via Delta through DFW on May 25 - 26th. I booked directly through the Hyatt website under the advance non-refundable rate - $110 AAA with breakfast.
Note: There are two Hyatts at the DFW airport: the Grand Hyatt and a Hyatt. This review is about the Grand Hyatt which is located at Terminal D between gates 22 and 23. It has direct access to Terminal D from the lobby of the hotel.
We arrived at 11:30pm, and the DFW terminal connection trains were not operating, so you have to use jump on the terminal link shuttle buses located right outside baggage claim on the DFW terminals second level - easy since they run every 5-6 minutes.
You enter and proceed up the escalator or via elevator to the checkin floor. I tried using the kiosk self-checkin but could not access my reservation not a big deal considering the time. Checkin was breeze at the desk and had been booked into a king executive room. I was a little disppointed since my room was right next to the elevator, but amazed once I entered, based on the large size of the room with separate living area, huge bath and bedroom.
Positives:
Staff available and ready to help even for a midnight arrival.
Excellent room - very spacious.
Bed was extremely confortable.
6 pillows on bed - nice.
Room were quiet to be at an airport.
Alarm clock with IPOD docking station.
Valet parking available in front of hotel.
Hotel has three elevators -appreciated when busy.
Bathroom has large seperate shower and oversized bathtub.
Hamper in bathroom for towels, wet or dirty, which was nice touch.
Plenty of towels on hand.
Bedroom and living room each had a HDTV flat panel.
Food for breakfast was excellent. (try the Eggs Benedict - 2nd best hollandaise sauce I ever had next to Interconti new orleans).
Convenient for overnight stops.
Friendly staff and servers including valet people.
Lower level has computers and printers for online airline checkin.
Elevators can only be operated to room floors with a room key.
Hotel has fitness room which is good security measure.
Negatives:
Charge to park is $16/day; it is airport parking. For overnight stays, you have to park on level 2 & 4 which slightly inconvenient, and could troublesome if you have visitors while there.
Self-checkin kiosk was not working which may have been my error or time of night.
My Gold Passport number was not linked to my reservation, but staff easily fixed it.
No room service available or an open restaurant for late night arrivals.
All and all, my wife and I would stay there again in a heartbeat and wished every Hyatt were as great as this one on rooms, breakfast food and friendly staff.
