A long review but trying to be fair as I am normally a big fan of this chain.
Went to Dallas for a special art exhibit & just to play tourist & the Fairmont was within 2 blocks of Fine Art museum & had a great rate offer for a suite. Perfect! Then I read the TA reviews and got nervous, but as first night was at another hotel, thought I'd keep the suite for major portion of stay & look it over day before checking in. Did & everything looked great. Upon check-in, suite I was shown was lovely but was advised that the new Gold floor was open and would I like to upgrade. Looked at that suite - wow, stunning! Took the beautiful new suite. Really outstanding decor and club floor was great for breakfast & nightly appetizers. OK, so for the negative: room A/C did not work very well entire stay; if it had been summer, oh boy, room would have been unbearable. Gold floors were still undergoing final "tweaking" so there were minor to major inconveniences: no elevator one day-hiked down 3 flights to lower floor; hot, scalding water in bathroom sink one morning (yikes!) and sadly, not very knowledge staff in Gold Lounge (although they did refer us to main concierge for help.) Response to all our daily issues/problems was polite, quick & fixed as much as possible, but some things, just weren't fixable. So, while room was great & hotel is lovely, not sure I'd stay again just because, heat, A/C, water are pretty basic requirements & having inconsistent basic necessities really cuts back on quality of stay. Too bad because the Gold floor is a real addition to hotel.
