I should start by saying, I've never written a review but feel this deserves my time. We spent the first two nights of a 2 wk vacation on the Big Island at the Teapot. When we were making plans I was skeptical because I wanted my childhood vision of an "Hawaiian" experience and lodging. The word "Teapot" screamed European style to me. Lesson learned...neither books nor lodging should be judged by their name! The grounds were manicured, very "hawaiian", private and quite spacious. The area is lush (wet side of the island). The home is a cross between a bunglelow and cottage. It is small, but clean and well kept. It appears to have some original windows and several nice antiques. I'm sure they would welcome children, but I would say, leave them at home and enjoy the romance of this home/area! The kitchen is tiny so don't plan on baking anything (ha) anyway, you won't need to because each morning you will enjoy fresh scones or muffins, etc.as well as fresh fruits, coffee, juices, etc. Oh and the coffee is very good! The home literally has everything you would need from catsup to eyebrow tweezers. The bath is on the small side too but they are planning to expand. They collect their own rainwater and provide seasalts for soaking with an option to purchase more. There is bottled drinking/cooking water. You'll find an outdoor spa/hot tub area near the house which is secluded, clean and quite enjoyable. Stroll the path slowly and admire the little trinkets within the foliage. I'm sure I left something out, but being a little jet-lagged, I can just say, it was all good. It's so obvious that the owners, Bill and Toni, take great pride and care in the Teapot and are good people. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet face to face until we were checking out, but truly enjoyed their personalities. Given an opportunity to go back to the Big Island again and they still own the Teapot; no doubt we would stay... just LONGER! The Christeson's, Evansville, IN

We spent 3 weeks on the big island with a trip of two nights to the volcano...this is a must do right now because Pele' is very active -- she has moved out of the park so you have to drive a bit to visit her, but she is flowing into the sea in a most dramatic way...be sure to stay until sunset. Check in with the park visitors center for all the information and cautions you need. Take head lamps!

While staying at Volcano Village we stayed at the Volcano Teapot B&B -- what a sweet place. All the comforts of home and more -- a great hot tub tucked into a rainforest nook. The owners are really nice!

Don't miss the Volcano Village farmers market!

“Idyllic, Alice in Tealand”

Volcano Teapot Cottage Bed & Breakfast

My wife and I stayed at the Teapot in March of this year and my wife is still recovering from the experience. She was totally enthralled with the grounds and interior of the cottage. Probably our most photographed event on the Big Island. The Teapot cottage is one of the lovliest little B&Bs that we have ever stayed at. Further, Bill and Antoinette went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable - ensuring that we knew of local places to visit and the latest volcanoe status. If you are heading to Volcanoe make sure you visit the Teapot for a few days...

“Three days in Paradise”

Volcano Teapot Cottage Bed & Breakfast

Feb 28, 2008

We found it hard to shut the door and say goodbye to the charm, tranquility, and lush rain forest garden of the Teapot. Yes, we had stayed at the luxurious Fairmont Orchid with its vast pool, but our fondest memories of the last six days are of the cozy Teapot living room with its gas log stove, music and TV, beautiful antiques and whimsical paintings and wall hangings, and of the exceptional garden path winding through two acres of tropical trees and flowers. We began to recognize the same gorgeous orchids and palms behind our cottage that we had seen earlier at a famous botanic garden. And these "belonged" to us--for our three days there.

Bill and Antoinette have refurbished this adorable two bedroom cottage and stocked it with everything that a visitor could want--from foods, including homemade quiche and banana bread, to a dozen teas and at least eight coffees, to beautiful bedding and generous supplies of everything else. Their taste is impeccable. They live down the road and phone to learn if there is any advice you might need each day.

If you stay here, you will consider yourself very, very fortunate, as we do. I tried to capture the charm in my pictures, but as they say, "You just have to be there."

Volcano is a place to see natural beauty and relax. We spent an active day at the National Park, hiking into one crater near the lava tubes and through a boardwalk of thermal vents, then another day at a botanic garden and Akaka Falls, and we enjoyed the Thai restaurant. I could have easily stayed longer just wandering through the village and taking in the Teapot grounds. Enjoy!

“Simply Lovely!”

My husband and I absolutely loved The Teapot - it far exceeded our expectations, which were already high. I can't imagine anyone having anything negative to say about this place, and I tend to be a pessimist! First of all, the little town of Volcano is so quaint and quiet. Then, we arrived at The Teapot - I fell in love immediately. I could not believe we had such a large space ALL TO OURSELVES. It was quite chilly and rainy when we arrived, so my husband got the gas fireplace going and we snuggled together on the couch. I am not kidding when I say that I could LIVE in this cottage - there is plenty for several people! Bill and Antoinette should teach a class on how to run a B&B because they've thought of EVERYTHING. We were so surprised to find our kitchen totally stocked with breakfast foods - eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, cereals, granola, oatmeal, juice, etc. Plus, yummy baked goods were brought by each day while we were out exploring. You couldn't ask for more privacy - Bill and Antoinette live 1/4 mile away, but we never met them nor did we hear a peep out of anyone in the neighborhood. The grounds of the cottage are just lovely and very well-kept. I was in awe! I think the best part was the hot tub - it is on a raised platform and is completely covered by a beautiful wood structure (but kept open on the sides). You can dim the lights out there, or soak by candlelight (candles and lighter provided, of course). How completely relaxing! I'm sorry we were only able to stay 3 nights. I truly felt depressed when we left and I kept saying "I miss The Teapot" for days (even when we were still in Hawaii!). You can't go wrong here, folks - this is coming from a VERY picky and well-traveled 39-year old. You'll love it - I promise!!
